Fourth Annual Festival of Trees

The Embassy Suites Atlanta – Galleria will have the Fourth Annual Festival of Trees, a charitable event with 37 local non-profit organizations participating and sponsored by the hotel and Atlanta-area businesses. Each non-profit organization will decorate a Christmas tree – many donated by select partner businesses that will be on display 24/7 in the hotel’s atrium for seven weeks. Atlanta residents and hotel guests are invited to give donations on behalf of the participating charities’ trees. There is no charge to visit the display, and parking is free. The tree with the largest monetary donations will receive an additional $1,000 gift from the Embassy Suites Atlanta - Galleria. On the third Tuesday of December, the hotel’s nightly Reception will transform into a Private Gala for the charitable organizations. Local choirs, musicians, and performing arts organizations will provide entertainment and fine foods and holiday spirits will be served to hotel guests and the members of the participating charities and local businesses. A local luminary will also be on hand to award the recipients the donations collected as well as the $1,000 grand prize.

It’s a Wonderful Life Marathon

The Earl Smith Strand Theater will screen It’s a Wonderful Life in a marathon of four screenings. Half an hour before the show there will be a holiday preshow and sing along on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ.

Winter Film Series

The film series will focus on winter films and some winter holiday themed films. On Dec. 2, the film, based on the true events that swept the world in 1988, tells the story of a small town news reporter and a Greenpeace volunteer who enlist rival superpowers to save three whales trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle. The film is rated PG and is 114 minutes long. On Dec. 9, the film is the Disney adaptation of Jack London’s Alaskan nature adventure about young gold prospector in Alaska who befriends a wolf dog. The film is rated PG and is 104 minutes long. On Dec. 16, the film features odd couple, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, as two retired old men and their sour-faced misdemeanors in Minnesota. The film is rated PG-13 and is 104 minutes long. On Dec. 23, the film is a 1942 musical with Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Marjorie Reynolds. The film is not rated and is 101 minutes long. On Dec. 30, the film features passengers celebrating New Year’s Eve when a giant wave crashes into their ship and upends it in the North Atlantic. The film is rated PG-13 and is 99 minutes long.
