A Harrison High School senior has won the second-annual Herff Jones Believe in You Scholarship & Principal’s Award — a program that recognizes student leaders across the country with more than $125,000 in college scholarships.

As the National Winner, Evan Mercer from Marietta, will receive a $12,000 scholarship. The annual program selects a national winner, national finalist and national semifinalist for the top awards of $12,000, $8,500 and $5,000 respectively; in addition, the best nominee in each state earns a $2,000 scholarship to help fund their college education.

“The Believe in You Scholarship and Principal’s Award program is an outstanding way for Herff Jones to contribute to the growth of the young people we serve. The fifty students from across the United States and Canada who received the award have shown exceptional academic success, leadership and service,” said Jeff Webb, CEO of Herff Jones Inc.

Mercer is bound for Vanderbilt University this coming fall.
