Stephen Michael (Mike) Harris passed into the arms of the angels sometime during the night of January 21/22. 2013. Born on May 7, 1955 to Hubert and Bonnie Harris, he lived most of his life in Smyrna GA. He attended Wills High School and went from high school into the Air Force during the Viet Nam war. Mike had a deep interest in military history and weaponry, and he also loved cars and Georgia Bulldogs football. Mike’s kind heart and gentle soul will be long remembered by those to whom he regularly extended a helping hand, no matter what the need. Mike never met a stranger and was always the first to volunteer when an extra set of hands was needed. Mike traveled a bumpy road in life, but he did so with a smile for anyone and a ready joke or pun. His great delight was in making you smile. Mike earned his living driving trucks, including concrete and dump trucks. He was a skilled driver who delighted in the work he did. Mike is survived by his sister and brother-inlaw Nancy and Michael Haney of Mableton, and his step father Jake Griswold of Smyrna. He is also greatly missed by his soul mate, Beth Kaiser of Acworth, and his lifelong friend Rob Carder of Acworth. Mike will be remembered at a memorial service at Christ Episcopal Church, 1210 Wooten Lake Road in Kennesaw on Saturday, February 2 at 4:00pm. A reception will follow at the church. Mike will be laid to rest in the Memorial Garden at Christ Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project to honor all veterans, www.WoundedWarriorProject .org. Mark your donation in honor of Mike Harris.
