Robert Burchall Harris (Bob), age 90, of Kennesaw, GA, died on Feb. 26, 2013. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Winkenhofer Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 in the chapel and graveside burial. Bob was born in Knoxville, Tenn. on March 24, 1922, to William Siegel Harris and Linnie Cordelia Francis Harris. He grew up in Knoxville where he graduated from Central High School along with his lifetime best friend, the late Paul J. Grubb. Bob served as a pilot in the Army Air Corp. during World War II as a Second Lieutenant. He flew combat missions during W.W. II in England, France, and North Africa. After leaving the military, he continued college, studying Industrial Management at the University of Tennessee where he received his degree. He moved to Marietta in 1955 where he worked at Lockheed Aircraft Corp. as a technical writer spending part of his tenure on the C-5 Aircraft until his retirement in 1985. He was a long-time member of the Lockheed Management Club and the Camping Club at Longhollow on Lake Lanier. He was a charter member of John Knox Presbyterian Church where he served as both a deacon and an elder. He enjoyed camping, playing bridge, and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Anderson Harris of Kennesaw, GA, two daughters, Susan Harris Tibbitts, husband, Steve, of Marietta, GA and Beverly Harris Blades, husband, Milton, of Acworth, GA, sisters Luvanne Harris Hubbs of Johnson City, Tenn. and Francis Harris Wood of Maryville, Tenn., four grandchildren, Jennifer Tibbitts Shook of LaGrange, GA, and Memrie-Ann Tibbitts Graves of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Carson Braswell and Forrest Braswell both of Kennesaw, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Agape Hospice Care Inc., 5825 Glenridge Dr., Bldg. 4, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30328.
