When Kennesaw Mountain High School cross country and track and field star Lindsey Claire Pickens of Powder Springs met her fiancé Preston James Ian Murrayof Birmingham, AL, all her other suitors were out of the running.

Lindsey, a 2006 graduate of Kennesaw Mountain in the Math and Science Magnet Program, made all county and state her junior and senior years. The 2010 Georgia Tech graduate ran on a Cross Country/Track scholarship all four years while at Tech. She qualified and competed in the ACC tournament all four years; was a four-year Letter Winner in Track/Field and Cross Country; was president of the Georgia Tech Students for Life program; and a member of the Georgia Tech Mentors Jacket Program.

Preston graduated from Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Ala. In high school, he wrestled, ran track and field and played soccer. He was the treasurer of Student Government Association his senior year; was a member of the choir and drama clubs; and involved in his church youth and mission groups. At Georgia Tech, he was a member of “FreShGA,” a leadership organization, his freshman and sophomore year. He also served on the board of trustees for the Student Foundation at Tech and was an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 2011.

Lindsey is the daughter of Karen and Ed Pickens of Powder Springs. Preston is the son of Alan John Murray of Birmingham, Ala., and Kathryn Metts Murray of Charleston, South Carolina. Both bride and groom are employed by Accenture Consulting Firm in Atlanta. The couple will be married at the Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Atlanta on June 15. The reception will be at Callenwolde Fine Arts Center in Decatur.
