Lt. Gen. William Caldwell and Maj. Gen. Gary Patton are taking issue with congressional testimony in July, when an active-duty colonel and two now-retired colonels said Caldwell sought to stop a probe of the Dawood National Military Hospital.
Caldwell appeared before a House subcommittee on Wednesday, where he also denied making a statement that cited the then-upcoming 2010 congressional elections during a meeting where the proposed investigation was discussed.
When the controversy occurred, Caldwell was in charge of the training mission for Afghanistan’s army and police.
