KENNESAW — Novelis, a producer of rolled aluminum, reported a 20 percent increase in net income in the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2013, compared to a year ago.
The company reported $91 million during the three-month period, up from $76 million a year ago.
The company also reported adjusted earnings of $259 million for the first quarter of 2013, compared to the record $306 million reported for the same quarter in 2012.

COBB — Cobb Young Professionals, the Cobb Chamber’s networking group for young professionals in their 20s and 30s, announced the winners of the 2012 Next Generation Award at the First Monday Breakfast on Aug. 6. * SMYRNA — Lillie Glassblowers, located in Smyrna, has completed a special order from The W&E Hall Institute of Medical Research in Parkville, Australia, for 26 glass membrane feeders for infectious insect biological and entomological laboratory studies. The demand for these special feeders is a result of increases in West Nile virus and Lyme Tick diseases. The glass membrane feeders were developed by Lillie Glassblowers in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and Cornell University.
* KENNESAW — Ryland G. Craft III has joined Metro Bank’s commercial lending department as senior vice president in the Kennesaw office. Metro Bank operates two full service locations in Douglasville and Kennesaw.
