MARIETTA — Three teens and one man have been arrested on charges of rape in Cobb County over the past month, and one has been charged with 15 felonies against the same girl.

Aurelio Mayo Perez, 33, of Marietta has been charged with raping a girl repeatedly beginning when she was 12 years old. The victim is now 15, according to an arrest warrant. He also faces multiple child molestation charges.

The first attack was reported to have taken place in 2010.

On Oct. 4, the day of his arrest, Perez reportedly entered the girl’s bedroom at night, climbed on top of her and told her not to scream or he would tie her hands. When the victim screamed, his wife entered the room, police say.

He is being held without bond in the Cobb County jail and also has been placed on hold from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Police sometimes are made aware of attacks by a third party, said Officer Mike Bowman, spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.

“We encourage that anyone that is a victim of a crime, report it.  Reporting the crime is the first step in protecting themselves,” Bowman said.

Rape reported at Marietta High

In an unrelated case, a 16-year-old girl reported a rape on Sept. 26 to administrators at Marietta High School, where she is a student. She told Marietta police that 17-year-old Daetravien Dashawn Reid forced himself on her. The victim said she told Reid she did not want to have sex and moved away but Reid forcibly pulled her back.

The incident happened on school grounds, though it did not take place inside a school building, said Officer David Baldwin, spokesman for the Marietta Police Department.

The victim was in a relationship with Reid, Baldwin said, and the pair was skipping class together when Reid wanted to go further physically than what the victim had consented to.

Reid initially lied to police about his whereabouts during the attack because he thought he would sound like he raped the victim, according to an arrest warrant, but eventually admitted he was with the victim. Reid also admitted, according to the warrant, that the victim moved away and told him no before he forced himself on her.

The victim was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where a nurse said she had bruising and pain in her hips.

Reid is charged with felony rape and remains in the Cobb County jail without bond.

Three individuals have also been arrested in association with two rapes at separate house parties that took place in late September.

Jasamaun Malik Stennett, 17, of Mableton is accused of engaging in a sex act with a girl under age 18 during a house party at a friend’s home on Joseph Club Drive near Floyd Road in Mableton. Stennett is charged with rape and aggravated sodomy and is being held in the Cobb County jail without bond.

Another girl under the age of 18 also reported being raped at the party, according to an arrest warrant. Marcell Anthony Lofton Jr., 17, of Mableton has been charged with felony rape and is also in jail without bond.

Skykela Renea Darling, 21, of Albany was also arrested in the incident and was charged with providing alcohol to minors.
