Have you ever been mellow? Have you ever tried Mellow Mushroom Pizza? Located at 1133 Chastain Road Kennesaw 30144 (across the street from Kennesaw State University) Mellow Mushroom is not just another slice of pizza. It’s a mindset.

Founded in 1974, Mellow Mushroom is a place where happiness is found in the simple pleasures of life like a slice of pizza and an ice-cold beer. Mellow Mushroom Kennesaw, established in 2005, emulates that philosophy.

“Pizza is the main thing. Pizza is what we’re known for and what we’re best at,” said Nevin Robertson, Kitchen Manager at Mellow Mushroom Kennesaw. The Marietta resident has been employed 3 years at this location and 2 years at a Statesboro location.

What makes this pizza stand out is taste. The pies are made with the highest quality and freshest ingredients. “Consistency, great taste and the use of fresh ingredients is key,” he said.

What distinguishes Mellow Mushroom pizza is the dough. “It comes down to our pizza dough. The spring water we use gives it a better quality. It’s a big deal. The quality of the water makes a big difference. It’s better tasting. It really comes down to the taste the dough gives the pizza,” Robertson explained.

Care also is taken with each pizza even after it comes out of the oven.

“After every pizza comes out we put garlic butter and Parmesan on the crust. We sprinkle the crust with Parmesan and we put Parmesan right in the center of it. The first bite of the pizza should taste a little like Parmesan and the last bite of your pizza should too,” Robertson said.

In addition to fantastic pizza, Mellow Mushroom also features other delicious menu items like munchies for starters, salads, calzones and hoagies.

Every Mellow Mushroom offers specialty pizzas such as a House Pizza, a Supreme style pizza with a red sauce base, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, Applewood smoked bacon, mushrooms, black olives, Roma tomatoes, green peppers and onions and topped with extra mozzarella.

Each store also features its own unique items. “This store has our own unique pizzas that won’t be done anywhere else. The most popular is the White Rabbit, a olive oil and garlic base with sundried tomatoes, spinach, mushroom, artichoke and feta. It’s basically another vegetarian option,” Robertson said.

And if the pizza isn’t enough — Mellow Mushroom Kennesaw is a family friendly, casual atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. On Wednesdays guests can enjoy Patio Trivia, Open Mike on Thursdays and live music on Saturday nights. “There’s plenty of stuff going on here. It’s all pretty laid back,” Robertson said.

“We offer the same product time and time again. We put out an excellent product. People love the way it tastes. It’s good. People keep coming back,” Robertson said.

Visit Mellow Mushroom Kennesaw on Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

I wonder if the Managers and Owners actually go in the Kitchen aside from photo ops.
