36th Annual Harvest Square Festival

WHAT: The fall arts and craft festival features unique handmade items from local artists and craftsmen, the Halloween Happenings, Scarecrows on the Square, children’s and pet costume contests, Pumpkin Patch and the Marietta Square Farmers Market.

WHEN: Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Glover Park, Marietta Square

COST: Free admission and parking, but tastes of BBQ range from 50 cents to $5.

Fright Fest & Thrills by Day

WHAT: Six Flags Over Georgia will have Fright Fest, presented by Snickers, with 22 horrifying attractions including five new scare zones, three new haunted attractions and zombie walkers behind every turn. As darkness descends, Six Flags Over Georgia will transform from a theme park to an “extreme scream” park. New attractions include Monstrosity Championship Wrestling, Terror Trail Backwoods Bloodshed, Asylum and KillIsland. New Scare Zones include Mummy’s Tomb, Monster Graveyard, Dracula’s Lair, Freak Show and Zombie Quarantine. During the day, there will be Thrills by Day – family-friendly Halloween activities for children throughout the park. In Bugs Bunny’s Spooky Town families can trick-or-treat, paint pumpkins, spooky story time, register for a Kids Costume Contest at Bugs Bunny World Theater and the new Lickskillet Harvest Festival - featuring arts and crafts, festival foods and photo opportunities.

3rd Annual Marietta Zombie Walk

WHAT: For a third year, the undead of Marietta are coming back and putting aside their hunger for brains to help the living community by bringing human food donations to support MUST Ministries. The family-friendly walk, sponsored by Carnival of Doom, will be part of the 36th Annual Marietta Harvest Square Arts & Crafts Festival and feature people dressed in zombie costumes making their way in a 0.8-mile walk through city streets and public spaces in an orderly fashion. There will also be a post-walk “drive-in” double-feature in GloverPark with “Attack of the Monsters” and “Night of the Living Dead.” The Infestation (Gathering) starts at 5 p.m. in GloverPark after the Harvest Square Festival and The Feeding (Walk) starts at 6 p.m. Makeup artists will be on hand during the festival to help bring out the undead for a monetary donation to MUST Ministries.
