Prosecutors in Corpus Christi say U.S. District Judge Janis Graham Jack on Thursday sentenced Benito Aguilar-Ozuna to 235 months in prison for conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
Aguilar-Ozuna was extradited to the U.S. last year following his indictment in 2008.
Prosecutors say Aguilar-Ozuna was the most trusted distributor for Carlos Alberto Oliva-Castillo, also known as "La Rana," or the frog, who ran drugs through the Mexican border town of Diaz Ordaz. Oliva-Castillo was arrested in Mexico in 2011.
Aguilar-Ozuna pleaded guilty in January. Prosecutors say he distributed cocaine through Texas and on to Florida, California, Oregon, Georgia and Illinois.
