MILTON — Mount Paran Christian rushed for 391 yards as a team, and picked up its first win of the season with a 28-13 win over King’s Ridge Christian on Friday.

“We finally got our first win against a good football team,” Eagles coach Mitch Jordan. said “I’m happy for the kids.”

While the victory was their first, the Eagles (1-4, 1-0 in Region 6A (B)) are still tied for the lead in the subregion and play the next two games at home against Whitefield Academy next week, with Fellowship Christian to follow.

Kyle Trammell ran for a team-high 146 yards, before getting banged up in the fourth quarter, and Douglas Legg added 91 more in the win.

“If you think you have done enough, you haven’t,” Trammell said. “Your mind can do so much more than your body thinks it can.

“I have to pay my respects to my five guys up front,” Trammell said. “They work out everything for me.”

Matt McKenzie and Taylor Trammell also added to the rushing figures with 39- and 38-yard touchdown runs respectively.

McKenzie finished the night with three carries for 46 yards and Ian Berryman added 41 more on six carries. Berryman also completed 4 of 6 passes for 53 yards.

Defensively, the Eagles consistently harassed King’s Ridge quarterback Bailey Miller. The Eagles defense had three sacks including ones from Dillon Harris and Stetson Clapp.

“Defense rose up really well and we were lucky to finish some drives,” Jordan said.

The Tigers struggled offensively throughout the game. Miller threw for 141 yards, but threw a pair of interceptions to Taylor Trammell.

“This team hasn’t come close to reaching their potential,” Jordan said. “They’ve just got to get focused and learn how to finish games.”
