Police say they have found dozens of victims of an Acworth teen accused of illegally pulling nude photos off social media websites and uploading them to a pornographic website.

Michael William Cook, 17, remains in the Cobb County Jail without bond on seven counts of child cruelty and one count of exploitation of children.

He was arrested March 13 at Harrison High School in Kennesaw. Police have not released information about who called in the crime or how it was discovered.

The first eight victims identified were juveniles — the youngest being 14 — but Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb Police said they have also identified some adult women whose images were stolen.

“This stretches beyond school-aged girls,” he said.

The number of victims has grown beyond the original eight girls to include “dozens” of victims, and that list continues to grow, according to Pierce.

Pierce couldn’t say if any of the girls or women lived outside of Georgia, but photos were being identified from victims across the northwest Atlanta region.

He also said they are still trying to identify all the victims and that on Thursday one of them came in to help detectives determine whether or not she was a victim of the crime.

How was he getting the photos?

Cook is accused of using his computer to contact teenage girls and women under the business name Maxi Focus Photography between Nov. 1 and Jan. 1.

Pierce previously said Cook would gain enough trust from the young women to eventually get social media or website sign-in names.

Using that information, he would then hack into an individual’s personal Web page.

Once on a victim’s Web page, Cook would download images found there to his personal computer and then upload those images to a pornographic website, police said.

Cook did not take any of the photos himself. He is accused of stealing the photos from the women’s and girls’ own websites or social media sites.

What this kid did is wrong. But Dear Lord, what were all these girls thinking by posted nude pictures of themselves online? It's not called the World Wide Web for nothing!

Dear Harrison parents, I am not defending this boy, but want to know, when was the last time you checked your children's Facebook pages? Are you aware your daughters are shown deep kissing other girls? Are you aware of the photos they post of themselves in thongs? At basement parties in Brookstone and other nice neighborhoods? I am a mom of two Harrison girls and they periodically show me these photos of your daughters. I have debated calling to get your attention, especially the one whose daughter is obviously stripping and hanging around with pimps in the city of Atlanta. I have known your daughter since preschool, but it's not really my business at some all want to stay in the dark. Ask yourselves if your daughter is setting herself up for something similar to what has occurred here? And ask yourselves how your children have become so morally corrupt at such young ages? I am no prude and know it's hard being a parent and instilling values, but something is wrong here, on both sides.
Exactly right

I live in West Cobb and the girls at Hillgrove do the same thing. They are shown half naked and naked kissing other girls and boys. I have heard so many parents state their kids won't share passwords to facebook, their phones, and email. Really? Check out twitter because that says it all. Hillgrove has had 16 kids arrested this year for drugs and drinking. Cobb County courts have them on diversion programs that are useless. One kid arrested for drugs was bragging that his mom was getting him off because his Miranda rights were not read to him. I don't honestly know what has happened to the parents! Crazy!

I could not agree with you more, "anonymous". Also check Instagram and Twitter also as more of the kids are moving to these social media sites as their parents aren't on them as much as Facebook. I have always told my kids and will continue to tell them not to put anything on the internet that you don't want seen on the front page of the newspaper OR that you would not be doing in front of your parents. Kids will be kids and will make "bad" choices from time to time. Some choices just have higher consequences than others. I feel badly for all of the families involved.
poor kid

Victim's my butt, the girls should be prosecuted too. These situations are a two way street yes the kid should not have convinced these girls to do the pictures but they chose to take nude pictures of themselves and are as guilty as he is.

Where is their punishment or as usual society is going to say "poor girls"
