DEAR EDITOR:

Dear City of Marietta: In appreciation for my recent participation in generating income for The Square merchants, and thereby increasing the City of Marietta tax revenues, I received a gift from you. Absolutely nothing says “You’ve overstayed your welcome” like a parking ticket for remaining in one place too long (in the lot by the Marietta Welcome Center).

Insult to injury was awarding the same prize to my cousin who came down from Chattanooga. So thanks very much, Marietta. You’ve seen the last nickel I’ll ever spend downtown.

Maybe you should change the city signs to read “Welcome to Marietta — give us your money and GET OUT.”

We are so sorry to treat you so poorly. Come down again and we will make it up to you. This time, park in the lot behind "Just Kiln Time" off Atlanta St. I promise you won't get a ticket from the MPD.

Stephen - sorry you didn't understand that there are time limits imposed on parking in downtown Marietta. Guess downtown Waleska doesn't have that? Please don't cry while you take your business elsewhere. 'Bye now...
Say What?

Maybe we should change the city signs to say "If you can't read our parking signs please ask for help!!"

Dear Stephen,

You have conveniently failed to share with us which one of our Marietta Laws you broke, and why you think you are so special.

The mere fact that you spend money in our city does not place you above our laws!

They probably mistook you for "LIBERALS". Tickets are usually reserved for cars with Obama bumper stickers.
