MARIETTA — An 18-year-old man was arrested at 10 p.m. June 29 at the Smyrna jail after police say pushed a detention officer, Thomas Futo, while he was opening the cell door.

At 4:30 a.m. the next morning, the detained teenager “damaged the window of cell #J135 by striking it with his hands, which caused the window to crack and shatter,” according to police.

Derek Mosley of Marietta was charged with battery and two felony counts of obstructing an officer and interfering with government property.

Mosley’s bond was set at $5000.

The arrest warrant did not state why Mosley was originally at the jail, and an officer with the Smyrna Police Department was unable to find that information as well.
