Last Saturday, Carol and Bill Kovski were treated to country singer John Berry’s Love Songs concert at the new Marietta Performing Arts Center (on the same campus as Marietta High School) by Carol’s mother Dot McCord. Berry, a CMA Award Winner and Grammy Award nominee, sang amazing hits such as “Your Love Amazes Me,” “Kiss Me in the Car,” “She’s Taken a Shine,” and “Standing on the Edge of Goodbye” and much more.

Following the concert, Carol and Bill attended a meet and greet where they met Berry again after almost 30 years. In 1984, Berry sang at Carol and Bill’s wedding. At the time, Berry was starting his career and not famous, but Dot recognized his talent when she heard him sing at a little start-up church in east Cobb called Johnson Ferry Baptist. Dot inquired of Pastor Bryant Wright who told her who to contact to get John’s number. John agreed to sing at the wedding but told Dot, “Mrs. McCord, I will have to charge you so I can buy a new suit.”

Dot said, “I’m sure he has plenty suits now.”

Kathleen Harnish of Acworth celebrated her 89th birthday in grand style with family and friends two weeks ago at the Art-tiques Galleria in Marietta. Local artist Ann Wildmon led a step-by-step painting demonstration of cardinals, a favorite of Kathleen’s, so that everyone could create their own masterpiece to remember the wonderful occasion.

Some of the guests included Robbie Baxter, Connie Blehm, Kayla Clancey, Robbin Clancey, Teresa Colter, Jenny Fuller, Deborah Koss, Gerry Lorenzo, Chris Powers, Nicola Saye, Diane Tyson and her mom Delores, Ken Tyson, Laurie Uzee and local artist Ann Wolfe Wildmon.
