DEAR EDITOR:

So Ryan Bays is wondering if scientific illiteracy is a prerequisite for having a column in the MDJ. Isn’t that something? The hubris, the chutzpah, the unalloyed brass of the Looney Left really is something to behold.

Believers in religion are stupid; people who want national-border integrity are racist; people who are very concerned with profligate spending by the Left are miserly; and of course, people who are skeptical of the global warming, climate-change leftist cult are scientifically illiterate.

Never mind the insane, time-certain prophecies made by goofballs like Al Gore and many others who stand to make really big dough from this pseudo-science racket, as Gore already has. Never mind the inconvenient climate-change fraud scheme uncovered at East Anglia University in the United Kingdom. Never mind anything or anyone (Dr. Michael Crichton, e.g., whom they blackballed after his fall from lib grace for writing about the climate fallacies) who shines the true and objective light of scientific research into the dark recesses of this gigantic global hoax.

Never mind addressing Dr. Charles Krauthammer’s explanation of how true science works, point by point, Mr. Bays, or any one of the hundreds of scientists who disagree scientifically point by point with your and Obama’s “settled” science.

Read George Will’s column in Thursday’s MDJ, Mr. Typical, Condescending, Know-it-All Lefty. It wouldn’t matter, though, obviously. Your ilk reads the first point that disagrees with your fake religion, and immediately take off with your yelps and ankle-biting attacks. There is an inexhaustible supply of data out there, sir. Read some more of it; without the blinders. I think you’ll find it’s a huge hoax, and that you’ve been had.

Climate Change in 1976...Lowell Ponte...THE COOLING

"We simply cannot afford to gamble against this possibility by ignoring it. We cannot risk inaction. Those scientists who say we should ignore the evidence and the theories suggesting Earth is entering a period of climatic instability are acting irresponsibly. The indications that our climate can soon change for the worse are too strong to be reasonably ignored."

One thing about Harry Hagan is consistent. When he doesn't know what he's talking about, he shouts, screams, and resorts to personal attacks. One of the utter failures of his argument is that the sources he cites as experts on climate change are actually experts in other fields. Just because Krauthammer is a doctor hardly qualifies him as someone knowledgable about climate change.

Ryan Bays has been very civil in his letter writing, something I've never seen from Hagan or some of his fellow Obama haters who also occasionally write LTEs. Tell us your qualifications Mr. Hagan, try to do it in a dispassioned way, and that could be the first step on a long road for you to establish even a scintilla of credibility.

The best information about changes in the world’s climate can be found in our best educational institutions.

The following organizations provide evidence that:

1) Global Warming / Climate Change is real.

2) Human activities are by far the largest causative agent.

3) Global Warming / Climate Change is a continuing, ongoing phenomenon.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

“Report: Human activity fuels global warming”

http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2007/climate.html

California Institute of Technology

“How We Know Global Warming is Real”

“The science behind human-induced climate change”

http://www.gps.caltech.edu/~tapio/papers/skeptic_2008.pdf

Stanford University

“A large body of scientific information indicates that global climate change is unequivocal, almost certainly is caused mostly by human activities, is already causing significant harm, and as it continues, holds great risks for our future.”

https://pangea.stanford.edu/programs/outreach/climatechange/

Columbia University

“The Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming”

“With higher CO2 concentrations come expectations of a stronger greenhouse effect and therefore warmer global temperatures.”

http://www.columbia.edu/~vjd1/greenhouse.htm

Atmospheric Sciences - University of Illinois - Champaign

“Evidence continues to mount that human activities are altering the Earth’s climate on a global scale.”

I've never understood how for some, stating facts is considered condescending.

Gee, I read HH's LTE all the way to the end--but all I got was snide condescension and did, unsubstantiated ranting. Then i read Bill Butler's comment on HH's letter and, voila--facts. With reputable sources. Methinks R. L. Bays hit the nail on the head. Ed B.

Bill,

I'm sure you're aware that the rate of warming for the past 15 years has been slower than the previous 20 notwithstanding the higher levels of CO2 in the air?

I think the current explanations revolve around the idea that the oceans are "eating" the heat, or something.

This was unexpected to the climate scientists; but, why? Why didn't their climate computer models predict this 15 years ago?
