Cobb’s new snow plow to be powered by Lee’s dreams

DEAR EDITOR:

I wanted to toss in my own two-cents worth regarding the raises for county elected officials and the snowplow. So let me be the “second” Cobb resident (after the one who’s letter appeared in Tuesday’s MDJ) to let Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee know I am not in favor of the raise he wants to vote for himself and elected officials. The county must be overflowing with money. In addition to a 3 percent raise for our elected officials, the county wants to buy a snow plow. We haven’t had appreciable snowfall in two years.

Yes, it does snow once in awhile here. Yes, we know that 90 percent of Cobb drivers can’t handle driving in snow and ice. But what gets me is that this proposed snow plow won’t even be used to clear Cobb roads. It will be used to clear CCT parking lots! I love the justification: The federal government will foot 80 percent of the bill. So the $233,618 price tag drops to “only” $46,723. And as we all know, vehicles never need to be serviced and this one probably doesn’t require gas. Instead, I bet it runs on the hopes and dreams of Tim Lee!

I had to think hard to remember what I did when we had our last big snowfall. Let me see: I pulled out a few shovels and cleared my driveway and my neighbor’s drive. Too bad we don’t have those mules around any longer. They could pull a plow! Why not just rent equipment like we did the last time we needed it? That seems a much better proposition than buying a vehicle that will only be used maybe once or twice a year.

I propose we buy the snowplow and park it on the square when not in use (i.e. always) with a placque reading: The Tim Lee Memorial Snowplow -- RINOs forever!

will make no difference in a large storm. It was a total waste - either you buy a fleet for the county or better to rent the the plows when needed.
