Delano Andres Wright, 44, was found guilty of child molestation and cruelty to children charges in July. He was sentenced Tuesday. Once released, he will be required to register as a sex offender.
The victim, who is now 16, testified Wright gave her wine and sometimes marijuana, which she said signaled his intent.
“He gave me wine, and I knew it was going to happen,” she said.
The acts occurred between 2008 and 2013, when Wright lived in Cobb apartments, said Kim Isaza, Reynold’s spokesperson. The only bedding in the residence was a single air mattress he and the girl shared, Isaza said.
Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring called Wright “the epitome of someone failing to take responsibility for his actions.”
Wright was also indicted on charges of rape and incest, but the jury was not able to come to a verdict on those charges.
