COBB COUNTY – K-9 dogs and Cobb and Atlanta Police were searching Friday afternoon for two men who fled as police tried to pull them over near Town Center Mall.
Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said the situation began about 1:23 p.m. Friday when Cobb Police tried to pull over a 2001 Infiniti that had drive-out tags. The vehicle fled onto Interstate 75 southbound and then onto Interstate 285 westbound, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour and hitting at least one other vehicle along the way.
The car finally stopped near Bolton Road in Fulton County, and two black males ran, Pierce said. One was reported to be wearing khaki cargo pants, and one man was in a gray shirt and the other in a red shirt.
Georgia State Patrol is assisting the investigation. There were no injuries reported in the hit-and-run crash, Pierce said. Cobb Police have stepped up marked and unmarked car patrols near the mall amid increasing reports of cars being entered.
