At its November meeting, the Marietta Civitan Club donated 120 cans of cranberry sauce to the Center for Family Resources’ 2013 “Thanks for Giving” campaign, which provides food boxes for needy families to have a Thanksgiving meal together. Marietta Civitan partners with the Center for Family Resources annually on this food drive but decided to take a different approach this year upon hearing of a shortage in cranberry sauce donations during previous campaigns. With the 120 cans collected, the club was able to provide cranberry sauce to almost 10 percent of the approximately 1,400 local families that received food from CFR on Thanksgiving.

CFR representative Sarah Tonsmeire was present at the meeting to accept the cranberry sauce along with a monetary donation from the Marietta Civitan Club. The Center helps provide individuals and families the resources needed to become independent and self-sufficient, breaking the cycle of poverty.
