MARIETTA — The city’s free mobile application for smartphones and tablets, MyMarietta App, has upgraded to version 2.0 to offer more fun features and practical tools.
Ronnie Barrett, the city’s IT director, who presented the improved MyMarietta App to the City Council on Wednesday, said it allows citizens to connect with the city government “while on the go.”
For instance, the first menu item, called “citizen request,” allows users to send a photo of a problem found around Marietta, such as potholes or traffic light outages.
The report, which should not be used for emergencies, is then routed to the appropriate city department during business hours.
“A case number is issued upon submission, and users can use the app to track the progress of the submitted issue,” accords to the city’s website.
The “utility account” feature connects citizens to Marietta Power and Water. Although users cannot pay their bill through MyMarietta App, Barrett said they can access billing history, view their current balance and request services.
The “what’s happening” page gives the latest news and events around Marietta and the video section allows citizens to watch City Council and other board meetings.
MyMarietta App also displays maps of the Square and downtown area, including icons over public parking lots and garages, Barrett said. City parks and recreation facilities are also highlighted, including the Marietta National Cemetery.
MyMarietta App can be used on iOS and android operating systems, Barrett said, and was created by the city’s information technology department.
