Churches now run by Muslim fanatics?

DEAR EDITOR:

On Oct. 5 the United Methodist Council of Bishops, the Presbyterian Church, USA, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, National Council of Churches, American Baptist Churches, United Church of Christ, and others authored a letter to Congress asking for an investigation into U.S. military aid to Israel, noting, “We have witnessed widespread Israeli human rights violations committed against Palestinians, including killing of civilians, home demolitions and forced displacement and restrictions on Palestinian movement.”

What in God’s name are these people thinking? Have they all entered “Peanut Head” Jimmy Carter’s universe? Have we all lost our minds? Prior to our membership in a local Methodist church, I had been a lifelong Presbyterian. I am embarrassed, ashamed and frankly outraged at the tone and implications of this letter from such a diverse group of Christian leadership.

They also noted that “unconditional U.S. military assistance to Israel has contributed to this deterioration and undermines long-term security interests.”

Have Muslim fanatics gained control of the hierarchy of Christian leadership? Hamas and Hezbollah must be cheering at this development and their surprising new ally.

I would urge those in church leadership positions come to their senses. Otherwise, this country is further along to Armageddon than previously thought and may, in fact, already be lost.

Dr. Richard Erickson

Cold is the Absence of Heat, and Evil is the Absence of God. Therefore, after shutting the door in God’s face Americans have opened the door to pure evil, and now the scourge of Islam is closing in the unsuspecting American population like a silent killer wrapping its tentacles around the Financial System, Education, the Mainstream New Media, the entire halls of Government, and Organized Christianity regardless of denomination.

"At the college level, the pro-Islamic, anti-Western bias prevalent in Middle East Studies programs prepares students to be apologists for Islam in the military, government, academia, and media. Students in these programs are a major source of the politically correct behavior that has, for instance, infected the FBI and its flawed Arabic translators program. We are now seeing the result of Saudi-influenced education on America's children over the past sixteen years since the Saudis started giving millions of dollars to American universities to support Middle East Studies and Political Science departments. These Arab millionaires have taken advantage of the Title IV program instituted after World War II to teach students about foreign countries and languages. The result has been a new generation of Americans who have been heavily influenced by Arab propaganda. Pro-Arab, anti-Israel, and anti-American professors who teach in these departments have brainwashed our children into believing that Israel is the source of the problem in the Middle East and that America is a bad country because of its foreign policy." The Churches and the public refuse to acknowledge the abuse the people in Israel take each day, including but not limited to bomings! Israel is the only country that will treat humanely those individuals who are hurt from Palestine. Do you think that the Palestinians would do the same, if so you are out of your mind.

No other country, including the USA will be able to demand of Israel what the Palestinians want, because the Palestinians only want to destroy Israel, and you can bet if they would ever be able to do so, that all the other countries including the US would be under attack.

But there are many out there with blindfolds on who will not look beyond what they wish to see.

Good Luck, and hope and pray that Iran or other countries do not start a nuculear war, because the US would be next in line for their assult.

Dr Erickson, the churches you mention are all examples of liberal religion and most definitely NOT Christian churches. Liberal religion churches and churches that preach the social gospel and the health and welfare gospel can be found throughout Cobb county. They are doing a great business, by telling people what they want to hear and by providing a social club atmosphere. I strongly recommend you find and attend a local church where the King James Bible is preached and believed and Jesus Christ is recognized as the head and sole authority of the church.

No, they haven't been taken over by Muslim fanatics. They just aren't as ignorant about what is going on in Gaza and the West Bank as you seem to be.

These "mainline" Protestant churches have been taken over by liberals. It has been happening for years and now, it is out there for everyone to see. I might add, that there is no reason whatsoever, for anyone to remain a member of any of these "organizations" for that is what they have become. There are other churches that still adhere to Biblical teachings, get out there and find one. I did!
