The new restaurant at 2756 Sandy Plains Road, near Sprayberry High School, opens its doors Monday, September 30 at 10:30 a.m. and will have operating hours of 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
“We are excited to be a part of the community and can’t wait to see everyone at our grand opening Monday to celebrate with us,” said store licensee Dustin Mullis, who, with partners Greg Shumate, Alex Koutouzis and Gregg Litchfield, also own the Marietta location at 1347 Church Street Extension. “Zaxby’s has built its reputation and loyal fan following by providing a fantastic experience, excellent service and great-tasting food, and we plan to carry on that tradition with Zaxby’s fans at our new location.”
The new 3,652-square-foot location seats 74 and offers drive-thru service. Zaxby’s specializes in made-to-order chicken fingers, wings, sandwiches and salads. It offers nine signature sauces to complement its chicken, including “Wimpy,” “Tongue Torch,” “Nuclear” and “Insane.” Larger “Party Platterz” are also available. Patrons can also round out their meals with “Zappetizers” such as Spicy Fried Mushrooms and Fried White Cheddar Bites, or premium milkshakes, with flavors that include Birthday Cake, Banana Pudding and Chocolate Cookie.
The grand opening celebration will feature an appearance by the Zax Kidz Club mascot, LZ, balloons for kids and samples from the menu. The first 100 guests in line will receive a Zaxby’s Fanatic Pack with 52 free “Dealz” from Zaxby’s, and will include menu favorites, such as a free Meal Deal, a free Milkshake, a free Zappetizer and more.
Mullis and his partners believe the restaurant — from the atmosphere to the service — will exceed community expectations. “We’ve assembled a great group of team members who will deliver on the Zaxby’s mission to ‘consistently create encore experiences that enrich lives one person at a time,’” Mullis said.
The new location will be the 14th in Cobb County and the 208th in Georgia. Zaxby’s operates more than 580 locations in 13 states. The Athens-based chain was founded in 1990 by childhood friends Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley, who opened their first restaurant in Statesboro.
Zaxby’s ranked No. 1 in the chicken segment and No. 5 in the nation for total sales by Technomic in the 2012 Top 150 Fast-Casual Chain Restaurant Report. Consumers ranked Zaxby’s as the Most Craveable Fast Casual in America, in Technomic’s Consumer Brand Metrics program, and the chain was listed as one of the 12 Best Franchise Deals in 2013 by QSR magazine. The chain is also a supporter of Make-A-Wish.
