FORSYTH, Ga. (AP) — Charges of felony murder and aggravated battery have been filed in the death of a five-year-old Monroe County girl.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Sherry Lang said in a statement Monday that charges have been upgraded against 33-year-old Amanda Hendrickson and 34-year-old Roderick Buckner in the death of Heaven Woods, Hendrickson's daughter. Both were initially charged with child cruelty.

Lang says Hendrickson had been involved with the Department of Family and Children Services before Wood's death. The girl was found unresponsive May 20 and was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have said Woods died of blunt force trauma to her abdomen and an autopsy showed she had both new and old injuries at her time of death.

Hendrickson and Buckner have been denied bond and it's unclear if they have attorneys.
