AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) _ Authorities say a cashier chased a suspect through downtown Augusta after being robbed at knife-point.
Police say the cashier gave chase after the suspect came into Pantry Inc. in Augusta around 11 p.m. Wednesday and stole several telephones and some cash.
Richmond County sheriff’s officials tell The Augusta Chronicle that the cashier ran after the man on Broad Street and caught up with him on 13th Street. Authorities say the suspect threw the cashier’s cellphone on the ground, smashing the screen.
The suspect then ran across the 13th Street bridge into South Carolina.
