The 10 finalists were chosen from a pool of 156 applicants who were selected as the Teacher of the Year in their school districts.
“I congratulate our 10 Georgia Teacher of the Year finalists and those who applied,” Georgia School Superintendent John Barge said. “As usual, we had a very impressive group of teachers make the top 10. I look forward to working with all of them to help continue the student achievement gains our schools are showing.”
The winner will be announced at the Georgia Teacher of the Year conference during a banquet May 16.
The Cobb School District chose Lokey as the 2013-14 district Teacher of the Year. She was previously named Cobb middle school level Teacher of the Year, which made her eligible for the districtwide merit.
In October, she became the 25th Cobb Teacher of the Year to have her handprints etched onto the Teacher Walk of Fame on the Marietta Square.
