“(The Vegas Show) is a unique combination of two of my main passions, the arts — and the Strand in particular — and the Humane Society of Cobb County,” said Executive Producer Steve Imler, who serves as chairman of the Humane Society and Vice Chair of the Strand’s Board.
Imler, an Alabama native who retired to the historic district of Marietta from Vinings in 2000, enjoyed success that allowed him to retire earlier than most people. Philanthropy became his passion, quickly calling him to local community issues and activities such as the arts and the Humane Society.
According to Imler, The Vegas Show 2013 promises to be bigger and better than the 2012 production retaining high energy excitement with showgirls, singers and dancers. This year’s production, in line with the current Las Vegas trends, is kid-friendly (including a teenage heartthrob boy band) and features musical tributes to Vegas classics such asThe Temptations and Elvis and current popular musical acts including Madonna and Justin Bieber. New to the show this year is a homage to Wayne Newton and Celine Dion.
“The show will be a whole lot of singing and dancing. It just doesn’t stop,” Imler said.
Last year’s production of The Vegas Show was a huge success with a packed house for every show. The in-house production, directed by the Strand Theatre’s Executive Director Earl Reece, was captivating with its fast paced song and dance numbers and flashy and over-the-top style, in true Vegas fashion. Many audience members said it was one of the best shows they had seen at The Strand, and immediately after the final performance it was decided that the show would return in 2013.
“The causes are a good draw, but people should just come to have a good time. It’s a great community experience that combines fun with a good purpose. This is a wonderful time to see the Strand at its best,” Imler said.
