From the “Tim Lee, don’t forget to remember your promises” department - Below is the entire text of an email sent Wednesday, July 25, 2012 @ 3:58 PM to a Cobb County citizen from Chairman Tim Lee’s office with his promise to make an addition to Cobb County law so that all contractors be required to take advantage of the no-cost federal IMAGE program:

Good Afternoon Mrs. Barton and Family,

On behalf of Chairman Tim Lee, I want to thank you for your recent email concerning the federal IMAGE program. Cobb County is proud to be the first county in Georgia to enroll in this important program and as well as having lead the effort with the E-Verify and SAVE verification programs.

It is our intention to bring forward an addition to the county code this January that will require those doing business with Cobb to also enroll in the IMAGE program.

This process will require several public meetings in January and your support on this important addition to the county code would be appreciated.

Notice of these hearings will be provided to the Marietta Daily Journal as well as listed on the county clerk's web site as part of the agenda. www.cobbcounty.org/clerk

We look forward to seeing you in January.

Thank you for writing and for allowing us an opportunity to respond back to you concerning this matter.

Millie Rogers, Chairman's Assistant

Cobb County Chairman's Office

Thank you, Mr. King, for this reminder. The IMAGE program is a program that works. Why would our elected officials NOT want to protect Georgia's jobs from those here illegally? Why would our Cobb County's Commission Chairman Tim Lee NOT want to save our tax dollars? The Governor estimated that those here illegally cost Georgia over $2 BILLION a year. This could explain why we are struggling to come up with the necessary budget dollars and why our schools are struggling as well. Cobb County Commissioners, your (legal) constituents will be so GRATEFUL to you if you will make sure all Cobb contractors comply with IMAGE. Please honor that pledge. It is about JOBS for GEORGIANS!

Questions: Why is Cobb Chairman Tim Lee fighting the effort to insure that taxpayers aren’t paying contractors that use illegal labor? Why aren’t we using all available tools to protect JOBS! JOBS! JOBS?...and what is the no-cost federal IMAGE program?

May 22, 2012 -
Cobb BOC Chairman signs agreement for Board to become IMAGE certified. The no-cost IMAGE program detects false documents used by illegal workers during the hiring process. We need the same program for all taxpayer funded contractors.

On the left, foreground, Brock Nicholson, ICE special agent in charge for the Atlanta field office. Nicholson said he has been proud to partner with Cobb County, starting with the 287(g) program the agency has with the Cobb Sheriff's Office, which allows local governments to have access to the ICE database. Since 2007, thousands of Cobb inmates have been identified as illegal aliens.

We applaud your forward thinking, we appreciate the partnership," Special agent Nicholson said then. We must be asking why Chairman Lee has changed his mind about protecting jobs for Georgians and asking why he isn't rushing to correct a bogus change in county law and act to require all Cobb contractors to apply for IMAGE certification.

UPDATE - 5:00 PM Friday – We just got a call from Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott. He tells me that he has asked that the language of ordinance be changed to actually reflect requirement that Cobb contractors apply for IMAGE certification. Good work sir! Great news and great work commissioner Ott! We don't think Chairman Lee is going to like this!

UPDATE – Below is the language of the ordinance in question and a link to today’s MDJ news coverage on the scam.

“Sec. 2-143. Employment of Unauthorized Aliens Prohibited. It is the policy of Cobb County that unauthorized aliens shall not be employed to perform work on county contracts involving the physical performance of services. Therefore, the County shall not enter into a contract for the physical performance of services within the State of Georgia unless the contractor shall provide evidence on County-provided forms that it and its subcontractors have registered for and are participating in the federal work authorization program as defined by O.C.G.A. § 13-10-90 et seq. to verify information of all newly hired employees.”

13-10-90 is the definitions section for the 2006 state E-Verify law ---The Cobb BOC itself signed a publicly signed their own agreement with ICE on IMAGE certification in May. This ordinance language is an intentional ruse. Anyone slightly familiar with legislation/immigration and employment verification can see what Lee hopes no one will.

If you haven’t, you can read today’s MDJ news report on the matter here. The headline is very wishful thinking.

***

Let’s let the feds explain the IMAGE job protection program. The below comes from the DHS Immigration and Customs Enforcement Website:

“IMAGE -- Your Workforce Compliance Partner

Becoming an IMAGE (ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers) member is now easier than ever.

Undocumented workers secure jobs through fraudulent means such as presenting false documents, completing fraudulent benefit applications and stealing someone’s identity. To combat unlawful employment and reduce vulnerabilities that help illegal aliens gain such employment, ICE announced the Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE) program in July 2006. This program assists employers in targeted sectors develop a more secure and stable workforce. It also enhances fraudulent document awareness through education and training.

IMAGE Certification and Program

ICE has streamlined the IMAGE certification process. IMAGE now offers a formal membership certification program that focuses on exceptional employers that have the ability to effect change within their industry or region. These employers also serve as an example and role model in the business community while highlighting the importance and viability of immigration compliance. Program participants will be deemed IMAGE certified upon enrollment and completion of IMAGE membership requirements. Employer feedback on the IMAGE program and industry participation in IMAGE will serve to guide DHS in shaping future worksite enforcement policy.

By voluntarily participating in the IMAGE program, companies can reduce unauthorized employment and the use of fraudulent identity documents. As part of IMAGE, ICE and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will provide education and training on proper hiring procedures, fraudulent document detection and use of the E-Verify employment eligibility verification program.  Members will also learn about the importance of avoiding discrimination in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act’s anti-discrimination provision § 274B.8 U.S.C. § 1324b.

Employers seeking certification in IMAGE must agree to:

  • Complete the IMAGE Self-Assessment Questionnaire (Application)
  • Enrroll in the E-Verify program within 60 days
  • Establish a written hiring and employment eligibility verification policy that includes an internal Form I-9 audit at least once a year
  • Submit to a Form I-9 Inspection
  • Review and sign an official IMAGE partnership agreement with ICE
Upon enrollment and commitment to DHS' best employment practices, program participants will be deemed "IMAGE Certified" – a distinction DHS believes will become an industry standard. The results of the IMAGE program will guide DHS in shaping future worksite enforcement policy and legislation.

IMAGE members are required to participate in E-Verify, an Internet-based system that compares information from an employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to data from U.S Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration records to confirm employment eligibility. For more information about the Form I-9 visit I-9 Central, a website dedicated to making guidance more accessible and user-friendly. The site provides employees and employers with one online location to keep them up to date with the information needed to properly complete Form I-9.”

It is important to know that the Cobb County Board of Commissioners has already signed an agreement to become “IMAGE certified”. in May, 2012. You can read about that in the archives of the MDJ.

The big question should now be: Why is Cobb Chairman Tim Lee fighting the effort to require the contractors hired by the BOC to be IMAGE certified? (Hint, along with the ACLU, Cobb’s Village Thinker Rich Pellegrino and the National Council of The Race/La Raza, the powerful, campaign-donating Chamber of Commerce is historically very actively against  any immigration enforcement action that involves ridding employers of black-market labor).  And…why is a proposal to change county ordinance that is supposedly aimed at IMAGE use for Cobb contractors a complete sham that has zero to do with the IMAGE certification process?

We’ll answer those question - and more - in the next blog. Meantime, Chairman Tim Lee can be reached at his county office.

I just read this info. This IMAGE thing is a no-brainer. Has Tim Lee lost his mind? Does H really think we cannot see that he is willong to sacrifice jobs to legal citizens to pay back the businesses that paid for him to be chairman?

However this ends up, he will be lucky to be elected dog catcher again. Adios Tim!!!!!

Thank you MDJ and D.A. king

A version of my MDJ commentary in today’s paper on Republican leadership’s treachery regarding amnesty-again along with added, extra information and links to referenced sources can be seen using this link  to the Dustin Inman Society’s website. On the page is information on Sean Hannity’s sudden and sickening “evolution” on amnesty-again.

And a reaction to the GOP’s planned capitulation from Patrick J. Buchanan.

*Also, here is contact info  for the entire Georgia delegation. Just in case you want to ask your own U.S. Congressman or one of Georgia’s U.S. Senators if they will join with the ACLU, La Raza, Jerry Gonzalez and Sean Hannity and are going to be voting to officially reward the illegal aliens and the Chamber of Commerce that have together been running American immigration policy for years. Ask them about JOBS! JOBS! JOBS! and why we would wave the flag of surrender of Ben Franklin’s Republic.

Maybe ask them why the results and consequences of a 2013 legalization would be any different than the “one-time” 1986 legalization – and when they estimate the illegal alien lobby would ever stop the extortion. Or why Hispanics would suddenly vote for Republicans. Or what the difference is between the GOP and Obama’s progressives. Or when the GOP  plans on amnesty number three…

The attempted sell-out will begin in the U.S. Senate. Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss can be contacted at his website  and Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson can be reached at his website .

Here are photos from the successful Georgia citizen uprising against Senate amnesty bill in 2007. Here are quotes   from the same year.

I would write more here, but I feel the need to take a shower.

Just a last note before the election on how Obama has fulfilled his promise to “fundamentally change America.”

Illegal aliens are openly working for his re-election. You can read about it from the WSJ and blogger Debbie  Schlussel.

BTW – According to a new report from the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute at the University of Southern California, illegal immigration from that paradise to our south is back on the rise. Imagine that. The president of the United States ignores American law and the American congress in granting amnesty to another group of illegals, promises general amnesty if re-elected and illegal immigration increases! Who would’a thunkit?

A supplement to my printed MDJ commentary on the Kennesaw State University “ 4th Conference on Immigration to the Southeast: Policy Analysis, Conflict Management” event

A supplement to my printed MDJ commentary on the Kennesaw State University “ 4th Conference on Immigration to the Southeast: Policy Analysis, Conflict Management” event scheduled for October 18-20, 2012

You can see the conference web page and meeting agenda with the names of the speakers and panel discussion topics. NOTE! I (finally) found an online dictionary with a definition of the word “permissivist”: “reduction in the value of an estate caused by act or neglect”.

  • You can see an MDJ news item about the similar event held in 2010 and my MDJ opinion page commentary on that conference.
  • You can see KSU professor Alan LeBaron’s 2010 response letter to the MDJ editor.
  • The anti-enforcement Georgia Detention Watch website
  • Washington D.C.’s Center for Immigration Studies paper “Immigrants in the United States, 2010 A Profile of America's Foreign-Born Population”. CIS: “Using the latest Census Bureau data from 2010 and 2011, this paper provides a detailed picture of the more than 50 million immigrants (legal and illegal) and their U.S.-born children (under 18) in the United States by country of birth, state, and legal status. One of the most important findings is that immigration has dramatically increased the size of the nation’s low-income population; however, there is great variation among immigrants by sending country and region. Moreover, many immigrants make significant progress the longer they live in the country. But even with this progress, immigrants who have been in the United States for 20 years are much more likely to live in poverty, lack health insurance, and access the welfare system than are native-born Americans. The large share of immigrants arriving as adults with relatively little education partly explains this phenomenon.” Don’t miss the Executive Summary if you don’t have time for the entire study. Which has actual facts.

A new study on the discredited Southern Poverty Law Center hucksters

For your education, a quote from a recent research study focused on the integrity-free SPLC ministry of thought control from American writer James Sampson:

“The Left has always had a problem: how to defend and promote an indefensible agenda, dedicated to covertly undermining and ultimately destroying our society as the essential prerequisite to implementing Socialism. Amongst themselves they are completely honest about this goal. As David Horowitz has explained, "The issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution."

But in an ordered society, they must present a facade of legitimacy. They accomplish this with a misuse of language - subtly changing definitions of widely understood and accepted terms - and intimidation. They are good at both.

I had a run in with these despicable people last year, following publication of the AIM report: CASA de Maryland: the Illegals' ACORN. The editor of their "Hatewatch" blog sent me an e-mail, asking if my writing and the positions I took on issues interfered with the temporary job I then held as media consultant to a group of county commissioners…”

As I write, you can read Sampson’s Examiner article outlining his new and informative research study entitled Southern Poverty Law Center: Wellspring of Manufactured Hate  – but prepare for the day when such politically-incorrect honesty is strictly forbidden.

AUDIO Update: Added Sept 19, 2012: Hear babbling Ruler Obama boast that he “actually agrees with redistribution…”

A supplement to MDJ commentary: Barack Hussein Obama - the food-stamp president - is hawking that taxpayer provided program on foreign language radio. Don’t miss the Fox News video.

Most illegal alien families use some sort of American welfare program and the myth of “cheap labor” is nonsense. It is really taxpayer subsidized labor. The part about “looking for a better life” is quite true.

Are productive, tax-paying Americans in search of a better life better off now than they were four years ago?

If you haven’t yet, please see the post below this one concerning the SPLC.

Giving race-baiting, parasitic hucksters a bad name: Recommended reading on the Southern Poverty Law Center

I just read the comments there from the local liberals and thought it fun to share a little more exposure of the creatures at the discredited Southern Poverty Law Center. This time from William A. Jacobson at the Legal Insurrection blog with “SPLC’s hatewatch gives cover to hate.”

A sample from Jacobson:

“As long-time readers surely know, I have examined the pernicious methodology of the Southern Poverty Law Center in moving from fighting Klan and neo-Nazi groups to fighting for the Democratic Party agenda against conservatives and the Tea Party.

In seeking to justify its hefty salaries, budget and fundraising, SPLC made a very dangerous leap to treating political opponents as “hate groups” and speech it didn’t like as “hate speech.”

My first post about SPLC was when Mark Potok, head of SPLC’s Hatewatch project, smeared a prominent black female law professor at Vanderbilt as an “apologist for white supremacists,” based upon a complete misreading of her review of a movie involving racially inflammatory rhetoric.  It was a vicious attack, taken apart by James Taranto in The Wall Street Journal.

Since then I examined the SPLC’s tendency to exaggerate hate group statistics for fundraising purposes, including inventing hate groups in my home State of Rhode Island:

The Klan In Rhode Island? SPLC Exaggerates Again

Confirmed – SPLC Exaggerated About Klan In Rhode Island

When it came to the Tea Party, I wrote that SPLC Completed Its Descent Into Madness when it called a speech by Sarah Palin at the National Tea Party Convention in February 2010 one of the landmark events in the “Patriot Movement” (which SPLC defined as Tim McVeigh-type anti-government violent groups):

Whatever SPLC once was, it now is a bastion of political hackery which, by equating legitimate political opposition with criminal violence, is doing substantial damage to our national fabric.

It is time for people of conscience to speak out against SPLC’s tactics.

SPLC continued its agenda against the Tea Party and conservatives when it persisted in claiming that Jared Loughner was “right wing” long after it was clear that was not the case…”

Trust me, it is worth your time to read the rest of Mr. Jacobson’s blog. And educational!

From his bio: “Jacobson is Associate Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Securities Law Clinic at Cornell Law School. Prof. Jacobson is a 1981 graduate of Hamilton College and a 1984 graduate of Harvard Law School. At Harvard he was Senior Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal and Director of Litigation for the Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project…”

Enjoy what is no doubt …“hate-reading.”

Giving race-baiting, parasitic hucksters a bad name: Recommended reading on the Southern Poverty Law Center From the American Thinker blog, some significant and all-too-factual insight into the parasitic hucksters at the Montgomery-based Southern Poverty Law Center headlined “Southern Poverty Law Center's Lucrative 'Hate Group' Label.” Please see the link further down.

Along with a lot of other pieces of information well-known to those who stand up to the hate-mongers who are attempting to serve as profiteering “progressive” thought police in 21st century America, the author uses one of my favorite quotes to describe the slithering SPLC founder, Morris Dees: “He's the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker of the civil rights movement," renowned anti- death-penalty lawyer Millard Farmer says of Dees, his former associate, "though I don't mean to malign Jim and Tammy Faye." That from a former business partner of Dees.

Because of nearly a decade of experience in immigration crime-fighting, the quote always reminds me of Georgia’s own useful ethnic hustler, Jerry Gonzalez, of the open-borders, Jane Fonda-funded Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials Inc (GALEO).

As is the habit of many of us paying attention when having to even type the words “Morris Dees” and “Southern Policy Law Center”, after I scrape the bottom of my pro-enforcement footwear, it is off to the shower to feel clean again.

I urge readers to give the entire American Thinker blog on the creatures at the Poverty Palace a long careful read. And to pass it on.

Hat tip: Author Rosslyn Smith!

In a stunning display of candor the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) of Montgomery, Alabama admitted today that it does not monitor "the extreme Left" although for years the organization has billed itself as a watchdog of hate groups.

The admission came during a phone interview conducted by Charles C.W. Cooke of National Review, during which Cooke asked a spokesman for SPLC if the organization had plans to begin to track the Occupy movement in light of the foiled terrorist attempt to blow up a bridge in Cleveland, Ohio.

The suspects who were arrested in the case are connected directly to the Occupy movement.

According to Cooke the person who first answered his call at SPLC appeared stunned by the question. She then transferred him to a representative who was conducting an international conference on right wing extremism.

In an interview that took on the characteristics of a cat and mouse game, the spokesman offered various nebulous reasons for the Center's practice of avoiding the tracking of left wing groups.

Finally, Cooke managed to pin down the spokesman on a key point, which led to a stunning admission that SPLC has never been willing to make in the past. The following excerpt sets the stage:

And then he went on a long speech about “anti-abortion extremists” that had very little to do with what I was asking, but no doubt made him feel good. I met this with silence, so he said that, really, the SPLC only tracks those who commit violence or who seek to destroy whole systems in the name of an ideology.

“Isn’t that exactly what happened in Cleveland?” I asked. “These five men, all linked with Occupy Wall Street, attempted to blow up a bridge as an overture to the wholesale destruction of Cleveland, Ohio, and in the name of anarchism. They also looked to blow up the Republican convention.”

“They were anarchists,” he repeated.

“Yes?”

He paused. “We’re not really set up to cover the extreme Left.”
