KENNESAW — Smith-Gilbert Gardens will be offering a seven-month indepth beekeeping program for beginners starting this December, according to Director Doug Davis. Dan Harris of Booger Hill Bee Company will teach participants how to build a hive, establish and care for bees, and harvest honey.
The workshops will begin Dec. 1 and meet the first Saturday of the month, generally from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost of the program is $225. Harris’ comprehensive sevenmonth program teaches the beginner everything from the history of beekeeping, hive construction, care of the hive and harvesting of honey. Participants will build their own hives.
