Bank of North Georgia, which has a Kennesaw and two Marietta locations, had success hosting its Seventh Annual “Spread the Love” Peanut Butter and Jelly Food Drive to benefit 30 local food pantries.

Bank of North Georgia collected 5,857 jars or 7,153 pounds of peanut butter and jelly, which is more than three and a half tons. That is enough to make more than 57,000 sandwiches, with two ounces per sandwich, for children in metro Atlanta. Local residents, customers and team members were encouraged to visit any of the 41 branches and drop off as much peanut butter and jelly as they could carry.

Since 2008, Bank of North Georgia has collected more than 18 tons of peanut butter and jelly through this effort. This year, the bank partnered with six metro-Atlanta schools and the Alpharetta YMCA. The Suwanee branch partnered with Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, which collected 1,508 jars, which was 25 percent of the donations.

Other school partners included Mt. Bethel Elementary School and Marietta Middle School, both in Marietta; Coweta Charter School in Senoia; Sandy Creek High School in Peachtree City; and Livsey Elementary School in Tucker.

The 30 food pantries were selected based on their proximity to Bank of North Georgia branches. Partners included Atlanta Union Mission, Breaking Down Walls Ministry, Bremen Food and Clothing, Bowdon Area United Christian Ministries, Camp and Christian Aid Society, Care Pointe Food Pantry, Carroll County Soup Kitchen, The Center for Family Resources, Community Action Center, Community Assistance Resources and Emergency, Community Food Pantry of Covington, Coweta Community Food Pantry, Fayette Samaritans, Food Banks of America Inc., Gift of Love, Haralson County Health Department, Hearts to Nourish Hope Inc., Helping Hands of Paulding County, Helping in His Name Ministries, Mt. Prospect Baptist Church Food Pantry, MUST Ministries, North Fulton Community Charities, North Gwinnett Co-Op, The Pantry, The Place of Forsyth, The Real Life Crisis Center, Rockdale Emergency Relief, Salvation Army Canton, Salvation Army Covington, Sonlight Vision Ministries Inc. and the Tucker Food Pantry.
