WEST COBB — Cobb Police are investigating after two west Cobb banks were hit by armed robbers Tuesday afternoon. No one was injured in either incident.

The first robbery occurred just before 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Fifth/Third Bank inside the Kroger at 4150 Macland Rd. Investigators say a man entered the bank and jumped over the counter. After threatening that he had a gun, he took cash and fled the bank on foot. The robber was described as a light-complexioned black man in his late 20s to early 30s, just over six feet tall with a skinny build, and with long braids or dreadlocks.

The second robbery occurred at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday at the BB&T Bank at 2480 Dallas Highway, near the Barrett Parkway intersection.

Investigators say a robber brandished a black handgun as he jumped over the counter and demanded money from the tellers. The man then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The BB&T robber was described as a black male in his late 20s, about six feet tall and with a slender build. He had shoulder-length dreadlocks and a tattoo on his left forearm.

The two banks are about seven miles apart, though police could not say if the two crimes are related. Investigators can be reached at (770) 499-3945.
