Mary Margaret Boyle of Marietta died peacefully of natural causes Jan 23rd. She was 92. Healthy and robust all her life, she continued to maintain her home and lawn well into her late 80’s. Mary was the oldest girl in a family of four brothers and three sisters. She set the bar high when she graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelors Degree in Dietetic Science. It was wartime and Mary served her country as a 2nd lieutenant hospital dietitian in the United States Army. This is where Mary met James Boyle, an Army Air Corps Aviator, stationed in his hometown of Augusta GA. where they were married and began their life journey. Mary and James raised a family of four and settled in Marietta. With the children all raised, Mary dusted off her Masters Degree in food and nutrition science and went back to work in Bartow County as their middle and high school dietitian. She later took the role of Director of the School Food Service for the Marietta school system where she implemented a novel approach to serving several schools from one central cafeteria. It worked very well in meeting the needs of the rapidly expanding Marietta school system. She retired in 1985, to concentrate on helping her children and grandchildren with their endeavors. She had a fondness for music and art and was an accomplished pianist. She wanted all of her children to appreciate music, song and art. They picked it up in varying degrees. Mary lost James in 2006, and her youngest daughter Mary Elanor in 1979. She is survived by her three children. Son James & wife Pamela Boyle. Grandchildren, Anne Boyle, Tara Fowler, Molly Padgett, Brooke Coston, Haley Apt. Great grandchildren Everett James Fowler, Penelope Anne Padgett. Daughter Elizabeth & husband David Castaldini. Daughter Patricia Jackson and grandson Ian Jackson. Her sister Anna &husband Tim Callenback. Sister Joel Marie I.H.M. and brother Robert Sheehe.
