AUSTELL - A 29-year-old Army soldier from Austell died Friday in Kirkuk, Iraq, according to the Department of Defense.
Pfc. Jaiciae L. Pauley died from injuries sustained in a non combat related incident, a spokeswoman from Fort Stewart said Monday. She said there were no further details on the incident and its circumstances are still under investigation.
Spokeswoman Jennifer Scales said Pauley was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Stewart, which is about 40 miles southwest of Savannah. She said he joined the Army in 2008 and was on his first deployment in Iraq. She said Pauley did not have any family in Georgia, according to his commander.
