Richeany Meas, 25, of Acworth, was pronounced dead after a wreck with another car in the second lane from the right going southbound on I-75 just south of the Delk Road overpass, police said.
The accident happened at about 7:40 p.m. when the right front tire blew out on the white Honda Accord Meas was driving. Also in the car were Enrique Zavaleta, 27, of Acworth, in the passenger seat and a 4-year-old boy from Acworth properly restrained in a child safety seat, police said.
The Honda Accord was stopped in the lane on the interstate when a red Jeep Wrangler hit the Honda, causing the two cars to move across the interstate and stop at the left median wall, with the Jeep on top of the Honda’s roof, police said.
Police said the Jeep was driven by 39-year-old Thomas Allan Jordan of Taylorsville.
Meas was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital via Metro Ambulance and was later pronounced dead, police said.
Zavaleta and the 4-year-old were also taken to Kennestone, where they were treated and released.
Jordan was taken to Kennestone where police said he is in serious but stable condition.
The accident closed all I-75 lanes for 30 minutes, police said, and no charges are expected in this incident.
