Smyrna actress Heather Place was recently selected as one of “The Top 14 Women to Watch in 2014” by Boss News Atlanta magazine for their premier issue. Boss News Atlanta is a new magazine celebrating the female overachiever.
Place was chosen because of her work as an actor/producer and casting director in the Atlanta Independent Film community and as a long-time volunteer with Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s BookPALS program (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools). Place has been reading aloud to children at Norton Park Elementary School and other Title One schools for 13 years. Place draws on her acting background and uses character voices to make the stories come alive to get kids excited about reading and to promote literacy.
Place completed work on eight film projects in 2013, including two films that have been nominated for a Georgia Entertainment Award for “Best Short Film or Web Series:” “Searching For Signals,” and “Second Wind Storms McKenzie Farms.”
Place has been married for 24 years to Francisco Izurieta. They have a 14year-old daughter named Aubrey who attends The Walker School in Marietta.
