Mount Paran Players, a troupe from Mount Paran Church of God, presents the Southern classic "Steel Magnolias" at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre as a benefit for MUST Ministries. The shows run today through Sunday at $18 per ticket, with a limited number of $75 VIP tickets available for the Saturday showing from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

MUST Ministries, a 38-year-old ministry, fulfills basic human needs - food, housing, clothing and health care from facilities in Marietta, Smyrna and Canton. MUST works with individuals to break the cycle of poverty by providing employment training and resources to find jobs, family life skills and services. MUST works towards overcoming barriers to employment by providing mental health or addiction programs.

"Steel Magnolias" is a classic Southern drama about a group of friends who share in common joys and support each other through life's trials.

"When David Brayfield and Angie Dillard from Mount Paran Church approached us about the possibility of presenting Steel Magnolias as a fundraiser for MUST Ministries, we could not have been more excited and enthusiastic about a project," stated Earl Reece, Executive Director of the Strand Theatre. "Having known David and Angie for many years, I know the production will be outstanding."

"The Saturday night VIP event and performance during the run of "Steel Magnolias" is the perfect night out for the girls, mothers and daughters or date night," says Sherry King Castellanos, MUST corporate and special events coordinator.

The Saturday evening attire is "Ladies wear your signature color and men no ties" and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, the show at 8 p.m., and a Meet the Cast Dessert Reception after the show.

"Steel Magnolias" is a classic play about friendship and support, said Reece. "It represents what the Strand Theatre and MUST Ministries are all about. We can't wait!"
