Last week — on Sybil’s birthday — friends and family gathered at the Top of Shillings on the Square to celebrate the milestone. The festive event was hosted by Boyd and their children; Lori and Billy Brackett, Karen and Todd Carper and Kelly and Russ Waits. Adding to the fun were all their grandchildren who attended: Ansley and Matt Sand, Will Brackett, Camilla Waits, and Kristin and Justin McNeal.
Sybil is known for her “words of wisdom” and favorite Southern sayings she imparts freely. Guests were asked to send in some of these famous witticisms that were framed and displayed for all to enjoy.
Black, white and silver balloons decorated the ceiling. Silver cases were adorned with beautiful white lilies and snapdragons, adding the perfect touch. Guests munched on delicious hors d’oeuvres and tasty birthday cake as they enjoyed the melodic strains of the fantastic Kaylor Taylor Jazz Quartet.
Since Boyd will be celebrating his 90th birthday next year, perhaps Sybil has already started planning — 90 at 90?
