"The Art of Comedy" featuring Jerry Farber and Johnny Parazzo with local opening act Gene McKay, was a huge success at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art on Aug. 14. Farber and Parazzo have been headliners at the Punchline in Sandy Springs and Farber used to own a comedy club, Jerry Farber's in Buckhead.
Farber, in rare form, taunted audience members Chairman Sam Olens, Mayor Bill Dunaway, Commissioner Tim Lee, local bandleader Todd Brumbelow and others. Attendees left stating they laughed so hard their jaws hurt after the show!

Nominations for the first annual Ovation Awards are due Aug. 24. Sponsored by the Cobb Arts Board and the Friends of the Arts, the event recognizes individuals who make significant contributions to the arts in Cobb County. The Ovation Awards will be presented on Oct. 5 at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre.
Nominations are due in the Cobb Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs office on County Services Parkway by 4 p.m. The nomination form can be downloaded at www.prca.cobbcountyga.gov/Arts-OvationAwards.htm. The form provides a simple and effective way to gather and present the information needed for the judging panel to select this year's final nominees.
On Sept. 8 at 4 p.m., a press conference will be conducted to announce the finalist for the first annual Ovation Awards. The press conference will be held in the lobby of the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre.
Categories of awards include: Outstanding Visual Artist, Outstanding Performing Artist, Outstanding Instructor Award, Distinguished Business Leader and Volunteer of the Year. For more details on the categories, visit the Web site.
