Family friendly activities will be presented for kids of all ages to experience archaeology, primitive technology, the natural environment, the Mississippian Indian culture and outdoor opportunities during the Family Fun Archaeology Day at Wickliffe Mounds.
There will be hands-on demonstrations of pottery, primitive technology, flintknapping, atlatls and spears, bows and arrows, stone tools, crafts, storytelling, Native American games, simulated excavation and archaeology for a kids’ eye view.
COMPASS—BallardCounty’s Healthy Direction Health Coalition and Cooperative Extension will have a Plate It Up! Exhibit. Fruits & Vegetables and Beverage samples will be available. Physical activity promotional items will also be given away.
Visitors can tour the archaeological site and Mississippian Lifeways museum, browse the gift shop in the welcome center and explore the mounds of the Mississippian Indian culture.
