SAT blog 08/27/2008
SAT scores for Cobb and Marietta are down again for a second straight year, according to figures released on Tuesday. To what do you attribute that? What would you do to correct it? And does that news make you more or less likely to support the upcoming SPLOST referendum?

Grading Blog 08/22/2008
Just weeks after announcing the county system will remain for another year on the dreaded Needs Improvement list under No Child Left Behind, and with the vote on the SPLOST III referendum less than a month away, the county school system has set off a new wave of controversy by changing the way its youngest students are graded.

Councilman Philip Goldstein, owner of the old Cuthbertson Building on the north side of Marietta Square, is hoping to get his demolition permit renewed for another three years for that building. Drilling blog 06/20/2008
Gas prices have crept past the $4 a gallon mark at many pumps in Marietta and Cobb County, with no guarantees they won't soon be higher. With the likelihood strong that prices might be $5 a gallon by Christmas - or even Labor Day - do you think it's time to take the handcuffs off the oil industry that have prevented it from tapping into the huge known reserves in our country? There are billions of gallons just offshore and billions more in a tiny corner of the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve in Alaska.
