For the past 55 years, with a brief hiatus while Ted Kennedy ran for the seat vacated by his brother, the president, there has been a member of the Kennedy family in the U.S. Senate.

Jonah Goldberg: The 'Ought' Decade   12/26/2008
Does anyone know what we're supposed to call this decade? Is it the 2000s? The twenty-ohs? We're coming up on the last year of it and I still have no idea. Personally, I always liked the "oughts," as in, "Back in ought-six, I ate a brick of cheddar cheese in one sitting."

In 2006, the evangelical pastor Rick Warren invited Barack Obama to address a conference on HIV/AIDS at his church in Southern California. Conservative Christians were outraged, because Obama - a freshman senator contemplating a run for president - favored abortion rights.
