The Other Deficit   11/21/2008
W hile Congress spends - and plans to spend - like the proverbial drunken sailor to "bail out" various industries for practices that are largely their fault and the fault of those in Congress who were supposed to provide oversight, another deficit looms which is at least as troubling as the economic one.

Election results point to sunset for old white guys   11/21/2008
If Republicans want to figure out why they lost the election, they might start with one number: 36. That's the percentage of the national electorate represented by white men. Or try 28, the percentage of white men over 30.

Grounded   11/20/2008
Plans to rename Cobb County's public airport to include the word "Atlanta" were on the runaway awaiting clearance from the tower for takeoff as the week began. But those plans are now back in the hangar where they belong - thanks to an overwhelmingly negative response from the public.

Bankruptcy   11/20/2008

Editorial: Kept in the fold   11/19/2008
Barack Obama perhaps didn't directly intervene to save Joe Lieberman's chairmanship but it certainly didn't hurt when the President-elect said he would be "happy" to have the Connecticut senator and party apostate continue to caucus with the Democrats.

Bill Shipp: Race Trumps Everything   11/19/2008
For Republicans seeking a silver lining from the last election, try this one: The GOP held the Old South. After 40 years, the Republicans' Southern Strategy still works. Race beats all.

Kathleen Parker: GOP needs new base, or country needs new party   11/19/2008
As Republicans sort out the reasons for their defeat, they likely will overlook or dismiss the gorilla in the pulpit.

Editorial: The secret is out about Kennesaw State   11/18/2008
W hat started as "a college in a cow pasture" just over 40 years near Kennesaw has now metamorphosed into the third-largest school in the University System of Georgia, and enrollment at Kennesaw State University this fall has again set a record.

Editorial: The 'Meltdown Summit'   11/18/2008
The great success of the global-meltdown summit might have been simply getting 21 world leaders together in Washington on only three weeks' notice.
