Cosmo - also known as CH Ebet's Absolut Cosmopolitan, a Toy Manchester Terrier - will compete today at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show in New York. Last year, Cosmo earned a coveted Judge's Award of Merit at Westminster.
The Club invites the five dogs in each breed that have the most American Kennel Club wins to its show. This year's show features 169 breeds or varieties of breeds. Dogs can be entered in American Kennel Club shows around the country. Westminster also invites dogs that are champions of record in their breed.
In 2007, Cosmo had the second-most wins of his breed. So far in 2008, he's the top winner.
"He just turns into a different dog in the ring," Young said. "He shows himself. I could take him off his lead, and he would do just what he's supposed to for the judge."
Here are some other Cobb County dogs entered at Westminster. Some competitions were held Monday. The letters denote official titles and are part of the dog's registered name. CH stands for champion. CD means companion dog, an obedience title. RE indicates rally excellence. Rally is a new dog sport.
