Two weekends ago I was excited about attending my nephew's high school graduation in my hometown of El Paso, Texas, just across the Rio Grande from Juarez, Mexico.

Things have changed a lot.

On my way to my sister's house from the airport, my nephew and I talked about his years at Cathedral High School. Isaac had an impressive athletic record, winning several cross-country awards in local, regional and state competitions. However, during his senior year he had lost interest in track and in his academic career. He cited the school's increased leniency in accepting students from across the border. Standards had eroded, the entire student body was penalized due to discipline issues and it was no longer the educational haven he had entered as a freshman. The decision to allow students from Juarez had changed the standards and academic pride of the school, explained my nephew sadly.

But he would graduate and would no longer have to face the daily issues of arrogance and entitlement exhibited by students from Mexico.

Preparing for the graduation ceremony and dinner, my sister and I had to do some shopping. Our first stop was the new outlet mall recently built on the west side of El Paso. In our shopping, it was clear that the customer sales reps preferred to provide assistance in Spanish. From Sam's Club to Dillards to IHOP, Spanish signage was prominent and Spanish was spoken by workers and customers. I was in another country.

English is no longer the primary spoken or preferred language in El Paso, Texas.

At the graduation ceremony for the class of 2008, one of the opening announcements was that specific parts of the ceremony would be in Spanish only.

The Boy Scouts paraded in with the flag. Guests were asked to stand. My family and I placed our hands over our heart to recite the Pledge to the Flag, as we had done so many times during our school years. However, many people in front and all around us refused to stand and continued to talk and conducted themselves with complete disrespect for the flag and the Pledge that only American citizens understand and appreciate. It was then that I understood my nephew's sadness regarding the erosion of his rights as a citizen when the overwhelming majority of his classmates were not U.S. citizens.

Heavy media coverage of vicious slayings in Juarez filled news reports in the two days leading up to my nephew's graduation. At least 25 people had been found dead during the previous weekend. Residents on both sides of the border were asked to stay at home. More than 33 people had been killed the previous week by organized criminal elements linked to warring drug cartels in Juarez. There are now approximately 2,500 soldiers attempting to control violence in Juarez.

We were asked not to cross the border. We were not able to attend my nephew's graduation dinner, traditionally held at a well-known restaurant in Juarez, due to the violence.

My nephew had been cheated out of one of life's most memorable rights of passage. He was relieved as the evening came to a close. He would no longer have to experience the lack of respect for long-standing American educational practices and the total disrespect for our patriotic traditions.

As I flew back to Georgia I could not help thinking that El Paso was very different 25 years ago. I had an opportunity to compare then and now. I could see up close what happens to an American city with an open border and what the new posture of disregard and disrespect will spawn throughout our communities and schools.

I had seen what happens when little is being done to preserve basic American traditions, when we turn the other way and allow our rights to be trampled for the sake of "cheap" labor and the "rights" of immigrants over traditional American values. It is clear to me now these "immigrants" are here to take, but give nothing back to the American way of life.

Stay tuned to Rich Pelligrino for more disturbing lack of respect for what this nation stands for!
Darcy says -
Uh-Oh! Rich Pellegrino will now have to decide if Ms. Montoya is " white identified" or brown identified" and decide if her telling the truth about Texas is hatespeech or not. Bill Nigut and the Nation of Islam/Jerry Gonzalez, La Raza, Dwight Graves coalition will no doubt have a long meeting over this one!! English is a foreign language in Texas - and not doing so well in Georgia. That must make the Cobb "Change" Coalition happy.
R.K.A. in Marietta says -
Oh my! Jerry Gonzalez will have a hard time assigning ther "hate" with this..so we guess he will ignore it. I am sad for Montoya to have to see her American town become Mexico, but more sad for my own in Georgia.
Mr.Lee says -
Hey lady that is also what they want to happen here in Georgia and the rest of AMERICA
mk says -
Every elected official needs to read this, & understand what's headed to every town, city, village & county throughout this country! But, probably wouldn't do much good, seeing how they've long ago forgotten what their job is & who they represent. What is the name of your store , Sylvia? You deserve a free plug!!
Richard says -
A great firsthand, personal account of the result of "open borders." Kudos to Ms. Montoya for her candid report.
Debbie says -
Real Americans are sad as well but now we are getting angry!
Ernie says -
Sad that this could spread to the rest of the county if we don't start working on enforcement and exporting of illegals.
Ginger Saunders says -
What a sad story. Surely our Senator's and Representatives have not taken the time to witness this. Our country is being destroyed, and we are voting in the peeople that are destoying it. May the States take over, and pass laws to prevent this. I don't think the Federal government will ever defend us. Take a good look at our officials that are running, make sure you know what they stand for. Do not vote on party lines. Vote first for our country. Hold your elected officials accountable. Throw out every open border official either Rep,Dem, or Ind. The choice is up to you.
Paul Mc Donald says -
The school system get paid by the Federal Government by the student attending rather than the U.S. citizen attending. So your nephew's graduation was the victum of an out of control government. We have elected to Congress and the Senate people who have lost any concept of management and control.
Vincent says -
Enforce our existing laws--detain and deport!
American worker says -
Bravo for Ms. Montoya...now she should prepare for the name-calling from the open borders lobby. Jerry Gonzalez and his followers will have a cow over this...I can't wait to hear the angry response from the Cobb Coalition for open borders change. Hola...Nation of Islam...see this? THANK YOU SYLVIA MONTOYA! - I am sorry to read about your old hometown, but you sure have helped you new one! MEMO TO TSHIRT GUY: PUT PELLEGRINO AND JERRY G ON A SHIRT!
BurningAtlanta says -
This is heartbreaking and outrageous. What happened to this nation? Ms. Montoya, Thank you for sharing this story.
Enter Your Name says -
Embrace our border friends. They are good people.
CaliDreamin says -
Why didn't anyone from the school step up during the flag entrance to politely inform those who were talking that, I'm sorry, while it is okay to disagree it is not okay to continue talking and that they should either sit quietly or leave. Those are the American values they need to learn. Honestly, are people too afraid to speak up?
former Californian says -
I left Ca for the same reasons after the illegals took it over. No respect for anything, they turned our once beautiful high desert town into a cesspool of trash and crime, now it looks like TJ, Mexico. California is now bankrupt because of all the free services. They respect nothing and they will continue to breed untill they overpopulate the american citizens.
Lee Anthony Nieves says -
Well said, Ms. Montoya, and what is the name of your business so when I head down to visit Marietta, I can buy some goods. I, too, am an American of Hispanic descent, and it's great hearing from like-minded Hispanics speak up for this wonderful nation of ours. This just goes to show that despite the media's attempt to turn this issue into a racial one (whites vs brown), it really is about America and its future. The only people making this a racial issue are those with an anti-American, anti-white/European behavior who think this land of ours is Mexican. Most of these simpletons don't even understand the history of Mexico, and if they really hate anything white/European, they'd stop speaking spanish and instead be speaking nahuatl or toconacan.
ron says -
this is sad, what will it take to wake up the american people to what is happening to thier country?
Bobby says -
Ms/Mrs. Montoya seems to get it. Are any of you college students listening? Do you understand that your beard scratching ,liberal arts professors who are for open borders and internationalism, are setting you up for disaster? Demand border enforcement, and respect for Americans, if you really are an American.
Enter Your Name says -
Thank God that there are still some Hispanic Americans who still feel that that being an American is a privilege and not a right. I sympathize and empathize with Ms. Montoya and her nephew. It also angers me to see what has happened to places like Texas and California in which the left-wing demands for "diversity and multi-cultralism has brought America nearly to its knees. Together we can stop this invasion by telling our elected officials how we feel. Call your congressmean tell him to support and pass the SAVE Act. Tell him to force the federal 9th Circuit Court to rule in favor of the DHS SSN#/employer sanction regulations. If we stand shoulder to shoulder and just say "NO MORE!" we can stop the lawlessness and anarchy which has infected this great country.
Janice Gammill says -
Thank you for telling it like it is! I hope you continue to use your pen to awaken the American people to this mass invasion of a third world country! El Paso is gone so is California. My children have gone thru the same. Sometimes i weep for my country. I hope you hire legal workers and use the Everify system.
Zealot says -
Readers should do a search on "George Bush + Mexican + flag + waving" Be prepared to scream. Ain't pretty. It's treason.
William Trimble says -
Typical of a government that is no longer for the people of the United states, they prefer to cater to the communist and socialistic advocators of our sociaty. The solution is to vote them out of office at the poles.
patty says -
thank you silvia....how i would love to meet you.
Pat says -
Please Ms. Montoya, attend our Commission meetings and give first hand accounts of the impact of illegals on our country. I remember Joe Thompson screaming that we want to go door to door to kill Mexicans at us when all we wanted was code enforcement to eliminate boarding houses in our formerly nice neighborhoods. Yes, that is exactly what he said, but of course, he uses illegal workers in his business. I had worked in El Paso in the 80's and traveled to Juarez to shop. It was a lovely city with only English signs on businesses. We see the arrogance and disrespect of illegals every day here in Cobb, and we are sad to see neighborhoods decaying and trashed. We all need to stand up and take our country back from the greed of corrupt politicians and Chamber of Commerce.
Sam Adams says -
Good thing the pilgrims (the original illegal immigrants) didn't share your viewpoint...or we'd all be speaking in Native American....
Old American says -
I salute Ms. Montoya for her courage - where are the voices of the other Americans who happen top be Latino in Georgia? Rhetorical question - they are planning the next protest for 'rights' for criminal invaders.
joazinha says -
WHAT on earth are ILLEGAL aliens doing in OUR schools?! Especially the FOREIGN RACISTS?!
Jackson says -
All this thanks to the federal government ever since Reagan gave millions amnesty in the eighties...they are giving our nation away...oh, wait, it is gone!
M.G. says -
Thank you Ms. Montoya for helping to clarify the dire situation regarding the erosion of honor and respect for this country. I hug and embrace you as a fellow American, and through your words, I find encouragement in finding those of like minds, of ALL races, who know what it means to stand up for America. God bless you, and God Bless America.
Denise Miller says -
I wonder why we let of of these people in to our country. Its not safe here now and we continue to put ourselves at risk. I live close to Detroit michgian and we have a whole community of people from Iraq and these women are covered from head to toe. I do also beleive that was have terriost in this city Dearborn Michigan hiding and blending in and we let them in here.
Enter Your Name says -
I have a friend mexican/indian but she is from this country I don't want a bunch of illegals here. I don't care where they are from I don't want them here. we are not getting the cream of the crop and we are supporting most of them.
VivaLaMigra says -
El Presidente Jorge Boosh doesn't give a crap - his Big Biz cronies have the cheap labor they want and he figures anybody who's anybody lives in a secure, gated community and sends their kids to private school so the joke's on you.
Carolyn says -
Thank you, Ms. Montoya, for letting us in on something that scares me to death--the ending of the USA as I know it and as you know it. I am sure it wasn't easy seeing what has happened to El Paso. My mother used to live there over 30 years ago and even then I could see alittle of what has happened to date. I am sure you wouldn't want to advertise your retail mailing/shipping store because of the backlash you would receive but if it had been printed I would stop by to thank you in person for your bravery.
Vickie says -
Ms. Montoya---I'm half-Hispanic and want to let you know that I appreciate what you have written. If we don't do something about this illegal invasion, we will leave behind a third world country for our children and grandchildren. I want better than that for my descendants as I can tell, from reading your article, that you do, too.
B. Smith says -
Very well written. I agree completely with you. We must fight for the freedom of the true American people.
Joe says -
This is a perfect example of why a nation-wide roundup and mass deportation of illegal aliens ought to begin right now.
Jon in Orygone says -
These killings in Mexico we don't hear about because the media apparently doesn't consider them news. Obama stuttering: wow that's news! Our polititions need to wake up or we will lose this nation never having fired a shot in anger. What would all our vets think! Thank you Sylvia!
Simpguy76 says -
Thanks for sharing your story! I used to work at a plant in VA that was very diverse. In a matter of 2 years it was 80% hispanic, all the sings were changed to spanish & they were hiring hispanic supervisors. Needless to say, the place became a dump & a year after I left the place shut its doors. This is a SAD situation. Americans need to wake up! Vote for McCain! He is for building a 700 mile wall & enforcing our borders! Have you ever read what an American citizen has to go through if they decide they want to become a citizen of Mexico? It's ridiculus!!! But, all they have to do is cross a river. I speak a lot of spanish because I have to. It's astounding how many hispanics can't speak english. That's like me moving to Japan to open a sushi bar, but can't speak 2 words of Japanese!! Deport them all! No citizenship....GOODBYE!!!!!
SailoRon says -
So sad for your nephew. That time of his life should have been special. Americans believe in this country, it's just that the politicians don't. Mrs. Montoya, your feelings were captured perfectly.
Jeffersonian says -
The balkanization of this nation is apperant not only in places like El Paso, but in Santa Ana CA, Marietta, GA. and many other places. The sense of entitlement and arrogance of these invading hordes who speak no english, respect no part of the American culture or the laws of our country can only lead to one thing. Civil War. We eventually will have to take our country back, and forceably remove the tumor that is destroying the national fabric.
Enter Your Name says -
Spanish was spoken here first and will come again. Viva Georgia!
Jimi says -
Recent polls in EP show the majority do not want the border fence built, even with all the murders going on. The solution is to kill 2 birds with one fence, build it on the northern border of EP. Enjoy your merger with Juarez! Don't let your head roll.
Matthew says -
Jackson: That is not exactly accurate. Ronald Reagan did not 'give' illegals amnesty, so much as that bill, the 1986 immigration reform act, was more or less forced on him by a DEMOCRATIC Congress. RR later described it as one of the biggest mistakes of his presidency. You can thank Teddy K. and his cohorts for that one.
Juan American says -
Well. First off, Cathedral is a PRIVATE school with open enrollment. The language spoken there is CASH. And while most of us down here are fighting the good fight, tossing out the fact that 'everyone speaks Spanish and doesn't respect the USA is wrong. It would be like saying everyone in Georgia is a Confederate-flag waving, backwoods, bad grammar writing hick. However from reading the comments on this blog, that may not be too far from the truth. Ms. Man-toy-ya, Good Riddance. Take your nephew with you if you ever come back.
Ruth Skidmore says -
The state of California, Mexico. I live in the Silicon Valley area where homes and everything else is expensive and at least 60 to 70% are from Mexico. The politicians speak of poor Hispanics than how can they afford to live here? California couldn't stay a Democrat state if it was required for voters to prove they are legal citizens. God Bless America if she can grow up and get rid of 75% of our corrupted politicians. When you drive into Burger KIng to order and are addressed in Spanish that is a little much for me and I told the manager so, this happened in Campbell Ca.
Lonnie says -
You mean they ALLOWED the American flag at the ceremony? My stomach churns when awards are given in graduation ceremonies for speaking Spanish. But none for getting commended on the TAKS test.
Greta says -
It may be that Hispanic Americans are the only ones who can prevent this overwhelming shift. Anglo caucasians who speak up are immediately labeled racists, even though it's not about race per se. If more (lots more) like Silvia would let their voices be heard, it would be enormously helpful for cowardly politicians, because it would provide them with racial "cover" and prevent them from being labeled as easily. Just a thought.
Chuck says -
God Save America from the Liberals among us and from the gutless US, left wing, socialist, do-gooder Congress! Save us from Nancy Pelosi and the little whimp who runs the Senate, from Las Vegas.
Former El Pasoan says -
How very, very sad. We too lived in El Paso about 25 years ago; in fact that is where our daughter was born, so El Paso has an important place in our hearts. This just breaks my heart to hear about Silvia's recent experience. I agree with her totally. We currently live in the Midwest, and our El Paso daughter just graduated from college here. Our college has a large number of international students from all over the globe, and our family has gotten to know some of these students, and our lives have been enriched by these encounters. However, at the graduation ceremony, we sat in front of a large group of people from another country (which I will not name here). Their behavior during the US Pledge of Allegiance and other parts of the ceremony was bothersome and frankly disgusting. In addition to a false sense of entitlement of some (as Silvia so aptly described), I also believe that common decency, manners, and just simple respect for the host country are a thing of the past. America is a great country (the greatest in my opinion), and if people can't respect us, then please don't come here.
Jon says -
I live in a city that is no where near the border and my daughter's kindergarten class is 30% illegal mexicans. We are definitely being invaded while our "representatives" stand by and watch. It is time to vote out these do nothing imbeciles and vote in people willing to do the job they are elected to do.
jfhdsiu says -
Well..This is a prime example of WHY the illegal alien invasion matters. John McCain is actively and aggressively assisting the illegals in their invasion takeover attempts. I hope all of the diehard Republicans who will vote for McCain, just because he SAYS he's a Republican, have this happen to their homes and businesses if McCain wins. and I pray that it impacts those people in the worst way possible. It may sound harsh but those people are showing that they have NO regard for the rest of us. My feelings on the subject are in reaction to those people's stand for McCain. Selling my birthright and the birthright of my children and THEIR children, (and yours),for a few paultry votes is despicable! Of what use any of the other issues if we are no longer the masters of our own fate! I don't want to hear that if I DON'T vote for McCain, I'm voting for Obama either. Voting for one political twin over another is not logical when they are both of the exact same political stripe. I'm voting for Barr. There is no other choice available at the moment. Anybody but McCain or Obama. Or should I say any 'party' but a Democrat or a Republican! We might have a chance then.
retired 1 says -
This is what America has become because its citizens can't think for themselves and let our politicians ruin our country with their North American Union/Spp run by the Bilderbergs, La Raza, Mecha and Lulac; communistic groups all. If this is the legacy you want for your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren then ignore the situation and let it happen!
leon says -
Thank you for sharing this. I say as does Simpguy76, "Deport them all, Start NOW, NO citizenship, NO entitlements, NO social security, NO free medical." SEND THEM ALL BACK. GET THEM OUT OF HERE, we'll all be better off.
Abby says -
Spread this article to your friends and family. Americans need to wake up to what's going on in the SouthWest and what will soon be spreading everywhere. We need to stop it before it gets out of control and our politicians we have in office right now are not working to protect America.
Chaplain Robert E. Mader, retired prison chaplain says -
This kind of people are not good citizens. They are disrespectful of our traditions and values. Good riddance to such people. Let's start teaching our children a respect for our Country. Sincerely for respect for other people, for the principles on which our nation was formed, and teach a respect for our country as One Nation Under God. R.E. Mader, Retired Prison Chaplain PS I have worked with this kind of disrespectful people for 20 years in prison work.
John Burnett says -
I am an American Citizen from England and proud to be an American but I too am in fear of what is happeing to this country. We are truly being invated by criminals, low level beings who care nothing for America, for Americans and for those who are patriotic and decent law abiding citizens. Unless these selfish business owners and the government groups can be brought under control I fear all will be lost. John Burnett
Deanna Fuller says -
Americans are so naive, we think we should help anyone who needs it, However, it is like giving a child everything they want without requiring them to work for it and take any responsibility, they just demand more and respect the parent and everything less. We have created and continue to create, a very large number of monsters and we are losing control
Lulu says -
Ditto, Ditto...Ms. Montoya. I too was born in El Paso, Texas. I left El Paso in 1974 and have returned periodically to visit relatives, who hate what El Paso has become. Over the many years, I have seen for myself the steady decline of my hometown and have seen what you mention in your article. I now live in Arizon. I see the same thing happening on the South side of our city and it's moving North. Our schools, hospitals, and healthcare systems have suffered because of the tide of illegal aliens using these services. The language is also hurting. We better stop the tide now and stand up for our beautiful and generous country. It is slowly becoming a third world country, and if Obama gets in, we'll reach that level sooner than expected. McCain is no better on the subject of the illegal alien problem, but he is the better of two evils. Ms. Montoya, thank you for your write-up. Americans should read it and learn from those of us who have experienced the negatives of illegal immigration.

I believe all Americans really want the same thing.the problem is when one is elected to office, they change to have power and the party takes over.We elect a person, not a party.the party controls the person because of power and financial security for the elected one. (Retirement Plan)Put Limits on officials and all of our problems will be controlled by those elected, not by party. Closing the border is just one issue. Ron Rutkowski KC>

Thank you for your candid and honest report. In Chicago, most often English is the 2nd language. In the Wal Marts and food store chains, the signs are duplicated into Spanish. Even some of the food manufacturer's have the English name on the front of the box and the Spanish name on the other side of the box. THIS IS ABSURD and a great disrespect of our ancestors who came into this country by way of Ellis Island. I think there should be 25,000 of military personnel in that area, to control violence in the city and illegals coming into the country. Also, vote the school board members OUT; they are NOT helping the situation. SOMEONE HAS TO STAND UP FOR THE UNITED STATES AGAINST THESE ENEMIES!
Native American says -
"English is no longer the primary spoken or preferred language in El Paso, Texas." Never has been, never will be.
Wilhelm says -
We WILL get our culture back......fear not, brave lady.....Americans are tolerant...to a point.....minus the few who could care less and let things fall down around us due to their coin-flip attitudes on major issues.....those few are the ones who assist in helping illegal immigrants abuse and destroy our system of laws, government and morals....just like you, I am tired of elected representatives representing those who have no rights to such....American people vote for American officials to so We, The People's bidding...not the other way around

I think we should round them all up and send them to Guantanamo.Along with all our Government officials that are not doing the job we pay them to do.Not excluding that morron BUSH.
Dr Anna Allen says -
I agree with Your article/ I am a Dr. here in El Paso from Kentucky. I get very frustrated when you cannot go in to a simple store and get service becuase I do not speak Spanish fluently. What has happened to our American values when people are allowed to live and participate in all the freedoms but have none of the loyalty to America. My mother was from Nagasaki Japan and considered it an honor when she became a US Citizen...What has happened to our American moral fiber? CAFTA and NAFTA are very dangerous to our country and to Americans...Pretty soon we will be the North American Union and we did nothing to stop it!Great commentary!
Robert Tan says -
This is the most comments I have ever seen on an MDJ article...Ms. Montoya has told the truth and people - American people are grateful.
Rand Roberson says -
I have seen the same thing myself. I write novels about the old west, specifically about that area in the 1880's, am from El Paso, and venture back there from time to time to do book research. I have spoken fluent Spanish since before I can remember, loved the culture, crave the food,, and grew up in that area until moving to a more civilized place in Tampa, FL. 9 years ago. The change in El Paso over the last twenty years has been an astoundlingly sad one. Mr.s Montoya has a great grasp on the problem there. The Marxist Raza Unida movement is succeeding there. The same thing happens here in Indio, California, about 90 miles from the Mexican border at Mexicali. Duriong graduation the Mexicans sit, hoot and holler during the National Anthem and Pledge to the flag, no one bothers to stand nor do the men remove their hats. But what is really eroding our way of life is t hat most of these Mexicans are still 100% Mexican though they are citizens of the U.S. Obviously their oath of citizenship meant nothing to them when they took it.

I wish opur popliticians would read all of these comments then maybe some of them would wake up to this "amnesty for all" is NOT the popular opinion amongs the people out there--it just seems to be popular with Mexicans and politicians. Tehre is not choice in the election; both McCain and that Muslim what's his name are for amnesty and citizenship for the 12,000,000 who should all be deported. That's anotehr thing: when they say it is cruel to separate families with deportation I say two things: One, no one is advocating separation. They can take the whole family with them, and Two, they separated from family when they came up here in the first place and that didn't seem to bother them too much.

I have no way of knowing what actually transpired at the graduation ceremony, but there was an inacurracy in that we have NOT been told on Both sides of the border to stay home. I do remember the old Juarez that we use to visit frequently, but are warned that if we go across the border to be extra careful. I have many friends from Juarez and none of them are the arrogant disrespectful people described. I also do not believe that the disrespect for our patriotic traditions runs rampant through our schools. Can't say why they have that problem at Cathedral HS. It's unfair for someone who has been gone for so many years to throw out comments and judge EP like that when the visit to El Paso was for only a couple of days. Unfortunatly most people are quick to jump on this horse without really knowing. And so the spread of hate goes on......

I've said it before and will say it again.....it is not immigration but colonization (actually re-colonization).

Hooray for this writer, I hope to see her go national! Here, we are starting to see the same thing, but it is called diveristy and multiculturalism. I guess "losing our nation" was taken.

I'm NOT suprised by all the ignorant comments saying "Spanish was spoken here first" or "Viva Mexico!" I notice that they don't leave a name either. It's all about hispanic pride. We (as AMERICANS) embrace other cultures, but hispanics don't have anything to do with OUR culture! Don't they realize that they are destroying our country? Always abusing the system, living off of our hard-earned dollars. They don't care, it's something for nothing. Soon, there won't be any system left & who will we have to thank?!?! I am ready to fight our enemies...foriegn & domestic!!

It is sad that our country is turning into a Spanish country and Congress is causing it happen. I wonder how they will feel in ten years when the Mexicans are controlling the congress and the people who caused this to happen will not be in office having been defeated by the Hispanics.

My husband was born in El Paso and spent most of his life there and I have been a resident for over 30 years. What you say is true. I am reminded of one of the last Viva El Paso performances held in McKelligan Canyon when the Mexican flag was cheered loudly and there was very little cheering for the USA flag. The USA is the first country in the world to legislate equality. It is time we take back America. Thank all of you for telling it as it is.
