The young woman, who will not be identified until her family is notified, was found outside KSU's main parking deck off Frey Road just before 8 a.m.
KSU Provost Dr. Lendley Black said the matter was under investigation, declining to say whether it may be a suicide or homicide.
But Black said the KSU community should remain calm.
"All indications are that there is no reason to believe the campus community is in any danger," he said.
University police are conducting the investigation with the help of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
"The main thing at this point is we're concerned and doing everything in our power to help the students, faulty and staff who may be acquaintances or friends of the victim," Black said. "...We always have counselors that are available to students and staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
