Gawdy: Since the election of President Obama the right wingers have claimed that the hate belongs entirely to the Progressives. I don't know how that got started, I do know that the "wingers" want to deflect their long history of "hate". It is not the Progressives who refuse to acknowledge the work of Delores Huerta. It is not the Progressives who want to send all of "them" back to where they come from, regardless of the circumstances.

I repeat myself because I hope that for one or two minutes the Conservatives would see the good that Huerta has done and forget her politics and yours.

Snake and Robert: The entire purpose of the article was to honor a woman who through years of work, helped countless people. Too many here in Cobb are distracted by Huerta's politics. What then happens, the world of illegal vs legal is injected. Then Snake injects The Statue of Liberty.

You both are distracted from the The Medal of Freedom by your politics. People other than Conservatives are worthy of the award. Guess what, your politics are blinding you both from seeing a truth that you don't like. There are all kinds of people here, we are a lucky nation. We here have privileges that some dream of having, one of the reasons why people are desperate to come here. I love this country, but I don't love everything that is done in her name. You both would deny Ms. Huerta The Medal of Freedom because you don't like her politics. Diane: These folks are indeed starving, I have been to every country that the undocumented come from, I have witnessed their desperation first hand. I have step children who are from war torn countries and as children have escaped those countries because their birth parents wanted a better life for them. I have visited refugee camps in developing nations and I have seen the

absolute pain and sorrow on their faces, so please don't tell me they are not starving.

The immigration process needs to be streamlined, the undocumented can't wait years for the process to work or not work. The undocumented don't have any of the necessary tools to come here legally.

People like you automatically question the loyalty of people like me because we disagree.

I will add again, Huerta received the Medal of Freedom for her work not her politics, you are too dense to understand anything remotely close to that concept.

We have immigration laws Lib - a fact that I am sure is quite upsetting to you. They are not "starving" - they come here because they can make more money than at home and are hired because they will work for less and live like filthy, angry sardines.

If there was an award for work involved in locking up people who are literally starving in their own countries then I am certain that DA King would be in the top three for consideration. Locking people up because they are trying to feed their families is not something to be proud of. Please don't say, Why don't they come here the right way". These folks risk their lives to get here in order to feed their families, they are very poor, they don't have any of the resources to accomplish what you perceive to to be the right way. I will guess that your are Christian. When you meet your maker; how are you going to explain your hatred? What would Jesus do for these desperate people? Would he feed them and help them or would he lock them up?

The Medal of Freedom was awarded to Delores Huerta because of her years and years of work with a disadvantaged sector of our population, not her politics. President Obama and The Medal of Freedom committee did not and should not consider Huerta's politics.

If you don't like her politics that's fine, but for one or two minutes forget politics and look at the body of Huerta's work. Her work, not her politics, is the reason she received the Medal of Freedom. It is YOUR politics which blinds you to the facts in this situation and possibly many others.

For clarification purposes only. Not all progressive thinkers are in favor of open borders. The immigration polices of the US should be streamlined making it easier, safer, less expensive and less time consuming for people to come to the US. If people are starving in their own countries, they don't have the time or the money to go through the current process. The Dream Act was a perfect opportunity for us to move in that direction.
